Building Relationships Through Social Media

Building Relationships Through Social Media | Social Media Engagement | Scoop.it
Blogging, SEO, and building relationships in #realestate with @massrealty and @PipelineROI
Bill Gassett's insight:

Most businesses get social media all wrong. They see it as a mechanism to advertise their latest product or service. What these people do not understand is that you cannot be successful at selling in social media without having built relationships first!

It is like walking into a party and just after you are introduced to everyone you go off on a wild speech about why they should by your product.

Would this not be a major turn-off? Of course it would and this is exactly what many people do in social media channels.

My industry (real estate) is the perfect example of this. So many real estate agents do not understand the point of how to be successful at social media.

The average real estate agent will do nothing more than share their latest listing for sale into all the major social media sites. Very few people want to see homes for sale in a social media setting.

What real estate agents don't seem to get is that people don't go to these place looking for a home to buy. The majority of the people are turned off when they see this kind of thing.

In the article I explain in depth how to use social media for real estate.

I can tell you as someone who works in the industry it is annoying for me as well. Why do I care about someones home for sale in India or on main street in some city, USA. I don't!

If you are looking to increase your business from social media your focus should be on building relationships with others in your industry, especially those folks who have some influence.

In the article you can see how I have built a loyal tribe of followers that have allowed me to increase my brand recognition, strengthen my SEO and increase my overall visibility as a real estate agent.

Without knowing how to use social media and building meaningful relationships I would not be where I am today.

Take a look at the article and see if you can get something from it. If so please consider giving it a scoop!

Braden O'Neill's curator insight, December 16, 2015 2:46 PM

The new frontier for real estate agent's exists online. This should sound very obvious to all of you. But for some reason (maybe because the avg. age of a realtor is 57?) most agents ignore this aspect of their business. This is ludicrous. While there are many facets to the online game, one of the most important is social media. If done properly, then it can be a great source of new leads.

Use Google+ to Build Your Business

Use Google+ to Build Your Business | Social Media Engagement | Scoop.it
Learn how to leverage Google+ to build your subject-matter authority and master social media marketing.
Bill Gassett's insight:

Are you using Google+ as one of your social media platforms? It seems there are always rumors out there by the Google+ naysayers on how they will be closing shop but those in the know realize this is completely false.

Google+ has been one of my top social media venues for a few years now. I was fortunate to be featured by Entrepreneur Magazine for my work as a real estate agent using the site.

While many big brands use Google+ I was featured as one of the "little guys" who are using the platform daily successfully.

If you enjoy reading about real estate you can connect with me by visiting Bill Gassett at Google Plus. In addition to real estate I often share helpful social media and SEO advice.

Just like any other social media platform you will only get out of it what you put into it. I have been fortunate to make a lot of valuable connections on the platform.  These relationships have helped me grow my blog at Maximum Real Estate Exposure into a real estate powerhouse.

Take a look at the article and see if you can glean some tips on using Google+ successfully for your business!

How and Why Start a Real Estate Blog

How and Why Start a Real Estate Blog | Social Media Engagement | Scoop.it
New REALTORS® can greatly benefit from using a real estate blog. Get expert tips from Bill Gassett and Lynn Pineda.
Bill Gassett's insight:

Having a real estate blog has been one of the best thing I have done over the course of my twenty eight year career. Having a blog allows you to showcase your expertise and put it out there for the world to see.

There are lots of real estate agents who start a blog and get no where with it. The most common reason is not spending enough time with it. Like anything else it takes hard work. You can't expect to jump into blogging half ass and think it is going to be a money maker for you.

Good blogging takes a number of skills including writing, SEO and promotion. You really need to have all three skills sets down in order for it to really work.

In the article I share some of the ways in which I have achieved success with my Massachusetts real estate blog. @Andrew Fortune who interviewed me for this article along with @Lynn Pineda a real estate blogger in Coral Springs Florida share some of thoughts on how Realtors can succeed.

If you are looking to start your own real estate blog take a look at the article. Maybe you can grab a tip of two from Lynn, Andrew and myself.

One of the best things about blogging is the fact it can be fun if you enjoy it. Without question the first time someone calls you and says they would like to discuss selling or buying a home with you is a great feeling.

It is at that point you will know your blogging efforts are paying off!

Bill Gassett's insight:

Are you a real estate agent that wants to learn from the best on how to use social media properly? Maybe you are just in the social media industry yourself and like real estate. Wouldn't it be great to have a list of folks who are respected by their peers in the industry?

Without a doubt there are lots of real estate agents who have no idea what they are doing when it comes to using social media properly. This is not the case with the vast majority of industry leaders you will find in @Paul Sian list of industry experts.

Most of the individuals in Paul's list are not just in one social media channel but in all of the major sites such as Twitter, Google Plus, Pinterest, Linkedin and Facebook.

Most of these folks have a blog that is the foundation of their business as well. If you want to learn from the best this would be a great place to start.

Xavier De Buck's curator insight, September 3, 2015 1:09 PM

Bill Gassett's insight:

In my opinion one of the best social media networks for a real estate agent to participate in is Google Plus. There are quite a few exceptional real estate groups within the site where top real estate bloggers freely share their content.

Every month a real estate roundup is created that shares some of the best posts. These articles are hand selected by one blogger who carefully reads through and finds the top content worth sharing.

There is usually a mix of new performers and agents that have been selected in previous months. Some bloggers do such an exceptional job it is hard to overlook their work even if they have already made a past round-up.

Some of the top real estate bloggers this month include two Scoop.it members including @Kyle Hiscock  and @Anita Clark. Anita in fact put this months round-up together.

There are quite a few interesting topics in this mash up including:

1.) How to maximize storage spaces.

2.) How to remove and prevent ice dams.

3.) Investing in a self directed IRA.

4.) What you need to know about hard money loans.

5.) Why buyers need a home inspection.

6.) Luxury features in a home that buyers rarely use.

7.) How to properly prepare your home for sale.

8.) How to ease the burden of moving with pets.

9.) What you should never say to a home buyer.

10.) The time it takes to get a mortgage after a short sale, foreclosure and bankruptcy.

Take a look at the article and see if any of these articles catches your eye. Please socially share if you enjoy the post!
