Nikon launches D610 full-frame DSLR with updated shutter mechanism - Slight improvement? | Photography Gear News | Scoop.it

The 24MP D610 is Nikon's latest enthusiast-targeted full-frame DSLR. Coming fairly hot on the heels of the D600, the 610 gains a new shutter mechanism, which is responsible for two out of the camera's three new features. We've had the chance to handle the D610 and have prepared a first impressions review of the refreshed enthusiast full framer.

Nikon D600 In-Depth Review

Nikon D600 In-Depth Review | Photography Gear News | Scoop.it

We've just published our 23-page, in-depth review of the Nikon D600. Aimed at enthusiasts, the Nikon D600 offers a 24MP full-frame CMOS sensor and a 39-point AF system adapted from the D7000. In many other respects, it owes a lot to its considerably more expensive cousin, the 36MP D800. When we previewed the D600 we were impressed by its image quality and how many features it offers for the money. So how does it fare when put through our rigorous studio and real-world testing? Nikon D600 gets second best DxOMark score after the D800/E

Nikon D600 gets second best DxOMark score after the D800/E | Photography Gear News | Scoop.it

DxOMark tested the Nikon D600 and gave it an overall score of 94:

"Nikon’s recently released consumer-oriented full-frame sensor DSLR, the D600, has just gone through DxOMark’s image quality evaluation tests. And the verdict is in: with a DxOMark Overall Score of 94, the D600 is an affordable camera that places a high premium on image quality, as it ranks just behind the top performing Nikon D800 and Nikon D800E. It is also a significant improvement over the high-end professional flagship DSLRs, the Nikon D3X and the Nikon D4."

Nikon announces D600 24MP enthusiast full-frame DSLR: Digital Photography Review

Nikon announces D600 24MP enthusiast full-frame DSLR: Digital Photography Review | Photography Gear News | Scoop.it

Photokina 2012: Nikon has announced the D600, the smallest, least expensive full frame DSLR on the market, aimed directly at enthusiast photographers. The D600 is built around a 24MP, 36x24mm, CMOS sensor and crams many of the features of the more expensive D800 into a distinctly D7000-esque body. It features a 100% coverage viewfinder and 39-point autofocus system, nine of which are cross-type points. It can capture 1080p HD video at 30, 25 or 24 frames per second and can stream uncompressed footage out over its HDMI port. There's also an optional Wi-Fi unit allowing the camera to be controlled remotely from an Android or iOS device. The D600 will have a list price of $2,099 body only, or $2,699 with the 24-85mm F3.5-5.6 lens and will be available from September 18th.

Nikon D600 Review - Impressions & Comparison Photos to D700 and D7000

Nikon D600 Review - Impressions & Comparison Photos to D700 and D7000 | Photography Gear News | Scoop.it

The Nikon D600 is the first “entry level” full frame DSLR. This D600 review offers real world comparison photos from Nikon D600 and D700 and D7000, the two cameras to which the Nikon D600 has been (sometimes pejoratively) compared. As I presently own all three cameras, I thought these controlled tests in addition to my commentary about the Nikon D600 after using a variety of Nikon cameras over the years, would provide readers with relevant information to make an informed decision as to whether the D600 would be a worthwhile upgrade from the D7000 or D700.

Photographer creates time-lapse showing D600 'dust' accumulation

Photographer creates time-lapse showing D600 'dust' accumulation | Photography Gear News | Scoop.it
Canadian photographer Kyle Clemens just bought a Nikon D600, but rather than get straight out and start shooting with it, he decided to investigate the widely-reported claims of a 'dust problem'. Clements set his D600 up with a fixed 50mm F1.8 lens, pointed it at a white wall, and shot 1000 images. Then he created a timelapse video which shows the slow accumulation of debris on the camera's sensor. Although the exposure of the individual frames isn't uniform, Clements' video clearly shows a steady buildup of debris over the course of shooting the 1000 frames.

It may be smaller than the D300S, but the Nikon D600 has a full-frame sensor and our lab results show its pretty darn good.
