Each time a teacher or a learner interacts with an Open Educational Resource (OER), these interactions produce data. This "interaction data" includes "artifact data" routinely captured during any online interaction by Web server logs (e.g., users' browsers, users' IP addresses) and "social data" created during Web 2.0-style interactions with resources (e.g., tags, comments, ratings, favorites). Interaction data can serve a number of purposes in a period of increased interest worldwide in OERs quality and uptake. First, interaction data is a valuable source of analytics about OERs and typical audience profiles. Second, combined with metadata, interaction data can enhance searching, ranking, and recommendations of learning resources. However, obtaining this data is not always easy since OERs, in particular, are generally dispersed among different systems where the interactions between resources and their users take place. This paper describes approaches to unlocking, collecting and aggregating this interaction data.

Excellent concept map! Check out how Pamela Lloyd describes it :-) Pamela D Lloyd's insight:An excellent overview of learning theories, providing not just a synopsis of each, but the connections of each to the principles researchers behind each and the general field of study. The overlapping and interconnecting nature of the ideas is also suggested by the network of lines between the summaries and the people. Another useful feature are links from the pedagogical theory titles and researcher names to the Wikipedia articles for each.

This workshop will provide an overview of the current educational trends sweeping college and university campuses. It will take a look at a case study on the adoption of MOOCs at a major university, new forms of content such as open textbooks and e-textbook adoption, and how traditional publishers are packaging their content for today’s new “classrooms.” In addition, the workshop will take a look at the results of a recent study on the return on library investment in content. Librarians are a major part of universities, but they're almost entirely missing from the MOOC conversation. That's a big mistake.

Technology is enabling Higher Education to change more in the next ten years than it has in the past hundred. Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are potentially one such technological innovation and have generated a lot of press in the past year.
