An angular.js event bus with postal.js

An angular.js event bus with postal.js | Angular.org.il | Scoop.it

Ideally in an angular application, controllers are independent units of code that have no reference to any other controllers. There are cases though in which you may need to communicate with other controllers in your application. For example you may have an Orders controller, that needs to tell a Cart controller that a new item has been added.

One of the best ways of accomplishing this type of communication is through the use of an event bus.

My favorite event bus framework is postal.js.

Learn Angular JS, Explained with Answers, Videos and Fiddles

Having worked on various enterprise Angular projects our teams have been faced with myriad challenges to overcome and has quite a bit of “in the trenches” experience. I share what I can with other developers through my various blog posts, by answering questions on StackOverflow and through a large collection of JavaScript fiddles. I also realized early on that Angular is a very important library and began recording a video course to help others Master Angular JS. The course has grown to well over 8 hours of content (yes, a full DAY of Angular!) and there are still several lessons left to record. In this post I organize some of the content and resources I’ve created as a guide to help you link into information, code snippets, and other information that may help you build your Angular apps.

Using Resolve In AngularJS Routes

Using Resolve In AngularJS Routes | Angular.org.il | Scoop.it

In a previous post about testing I mentioned that route resolves can make authoring unit tests for a controller easier. Resolves can also help the user experience.

A resolve is a property you can attach to a route in both ngRoute and the more robust UI router. A resolve contains one or more promises that must resolve successfully before the route will change. This means you can wait for data to become available before showing a view, and simplify the initialization of the model inside a controller because the initial data is given to the controller instead of the controller needing to go out and fetch the data.

As an example, let’s use the following simple service which uses $q to simulate the async work required to fetch some data.

Faster AngularJS Rendering (AngularJS and ReactJS)

Faster AngularJS Rendering (AngularJS and ReactJS) | Angular.org.il | Scoop.it

Have you used AngularJs and ran into some performance problems? Using ReactJs rendering becomes much faster. A small examples explains how to use ReactJs for rendering in AngularJs and a comparison is made between native rendering and rendering using ReactJs.

I like AngularJS. I use it when I do some little fun projects and I use it professionally in large Web apps. I tried other frameworks as well, likeBackboneJS and EmberJS, which both are great tools as well. All three of them belong to the class of MVC frameworks (or MVVC whatever you want o call them). But whenever I used any of such a tool I always ran and still run into the same problem: Rendering performance of lists of items. Two way binding or one-way binding makes no real difference. For me BackboneJS had better performance for rendering than AngularJS. Lets put that on the back of two-way binding.
