Art Education iPad Apps – Which Ones Are the Best? | The Teaching Palette | Education: Visual Art |

"Many schools are beginning to redirect money once set aside for textbooks toward technology and purchase iPads. Although some app prices may seem out of reach, they often can purchased in bulk for a fraction of the listed cost."

Cheynee Scott's insight:

1. Does anyone (in this class) have any recommended apps that have aided them through out their educational journey in visual arts?
2. Please explain the possible ways in which these apps have helped?

iPad Art Room

iPad Art Room | Education: Visual Art |

"My ‘iPad Art Room’ is a key initiative in the creation of a new learning environment for the diverse students in Visual Arts (Yrs 6-12), enhancing engagement and maximizing learning outcomes through a 1:1 iPad program........ This website provides resources, ideas and insights into the reinvention of Year 6-12 Visual Art programs using the SAMR Model (see Teaching & Learning) to merge traditional art making processes with cutting edge content, techniques and ways of thinking."

Cheynee Scott's insight:

This would be very interesting to use within a classroom as it incorporates both the use of visual art and technology and has great potential in satisfying generation Y and Z.

If you're an art teacher or are just interested in art education then this site from Gold Coast teacher and ADE, Cathy Hunt is one to add to your RSS Reader. It contains not only lively posts about iPads and art but also lots of great links and app reviews as well as reference to SAMR.

Wonderful ideas for using digital artforms combined with traditional mediums.  Using stop motion as a way of combining imagery for meaning looks like a fun way to go for art students.  Out of the box!
