Parallel space: Meet the Terracotta Warriors in Greece  | Visit Ancient Greece | Scoop.it
To commemorate the China-Greece Year of Culture and Tourism, the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports and its Chinese counterpart, the National Cultural Heritage Administration, have launched an online exhibition presenting the famous Terracotta Army of Xi’an, central China.
Michael Shepherd's insight:
Strange that this article does not mention the ancient Greek influence on the Xi'an sculptures.  For that read here:  https://visit-ancient-greece.com/2020/01/22/how-interconnected-was-the-ancient-world/
I am guessing the Chinese don't want to admit they learned something from foreigners.

This web site, obviously, is about Visit-Ancient-Greece but this post is about bringing ancient Greece to modern life. Throughout my international travels I have collected bits and pieces related to this huge subject. Some of which I have written about in previous posts, such as the Greek ideal of an integrated lifestyle leading to long healthy lives. Open-minded travel broadens perspective so one can see the many connections linking original ancient Greek thought to current-day culture.

Why Edith Hamilton Feared the Decline of Individualism More Than Atomic Bombs

Why Edith Hamilton Feared the Decline of Individualism More Than Atomic Bombs  | Visit Ancient Greece | Scoop.it

"People hate being made to think,” the educator and classical scholar Edith Hamilton (1867-1963) once said. Laziness of mind is indeed easy to find, even more so today than in her time. It shows up in vapid social media posts, flippant political rhetoric, superficial media coverage, knee-jerk but sanctimonious opinions, and the widespread absence of critical thinking skills. It’s everywhere.

Mythological Kings of Ancient Greece Family Tree

Mythological Kings of Ancient Greece Family Tree | Visit Ancient Greece | Scoop.it
Here I have traced the lineages of what I believe to be the nine most prolific monarchies from Greek myth. For each, I have traced the crown from the first king to the last king, or in multiple cases the last known king (oftentimes, a kingdom will simply disappear from myth without explanation). One last note: any individual with a ship symbol next to their name sailed on the Argo and anyone with a Trojan Horse symbol by their name fought at Troy.
