" A new survey released today has highlighted some of the key health issues in Europe and the attitudes towards physical and mental health in 21 European countries. The new European Social Survey (ESS) gathered 40,000 responses from across Europe during 2014-2015 and found that a large number of Europeans are suffering from a wide range of physical and mental health conditions."

UK millennials have suffered the second-worst falls in their earnings of any of the dozen advanced economies surveyed by a think tank over the past decade. In a new report, the Resolution Foundation calculates that average real hourly earnings for under-30s in Britain fell 13 per cent between 2007 and 2014.

One in four British people admit to being racially prejudiced, including a third of Leave voters, a survey has found.  Research by the National Centre for Social Research (NatCen) and Runnymede found that 26 per cent of people described themselves as “very” or “a little” prejudiced towards people of other races.

More Britons say they have no religion than profess to be Christian, according to a new report. According to the British Social Attitudes Survey and the European Social Survey, the "major factor" in the development is that people who are brought up to be religious are losing their faith. More than two-thirds of non-religious people were raised as Christians or in another faith.

Portugal has been rated last in a list of 21 countries when it comes to physical exercise. According to the European Social Survey, which analysed physical and mental health in 21 countries, only 13 percent of Portuguese men and just over 11 percent of Portuguese women exercise regularly.

Health of Europe revealed in new report

A new report compares health attitudes across 21 European countries. Findings show that women are more likely to suffer from depression and headaches, and men are much more likely to smoke and view themselves as overweight. The UK and Portugal display highest binge drinking rates, and across Europe, men consume almost twice as much alcohol as women.
