Trinity River Vision is one of the biggest and most expensive projects in Fort Worth and now taxpayers may be asked to approve $250 million more to build it. It's a long-term master plan centered on Panther Island, near downtown. It re-routes the Trinity River, to help with flood control and create a new urban waterfront community, roughly the same size as downtown.

Texas Seeks Input on New Freshwater Reg Proposals

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is now accepting public comment on proposed changes to freshwater fishing regulations for 2019-2020. The proposed changes include modifications to the length limits and harvest regulations for largemouth bass, Alabama bass and alligator gar in certain areas. The proposed changes to alligator gar regulations also include a statewide nighttime prohibition on bow fishing, mandatory harvest reporting statewide except for Falcon Lake, and the creation of a drawing for harvest opportunity on the Trinity River.

Bruceville-Eddy City Center plans scrapped; sewer system still planned

While the City Center is on hold, plans for the sewer are moving forward. The city received a $10.8 million grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for the project. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has issued the city a permit for the sewer work, which Bishop said should be completed in 12 to 18 months.

The Lower Colorado River Authority has rolled out a new action plan that includes additional flagging and removal of safety hazards on Lake LBJ brought on by historic flooding last October.

The move came three days after a KXAN investigation revealed hazardous debris still sitting on the sand and in shallow parts of the lake. Locals shared photos of pieces of concrete with rebar sticking out, boards with nails and large, mangled tree limbs that will soon be hidden under the water's surface once the LCRA starts refilling the lake on Feb 24, which is three weeks earlier than planned.

High court to consider case about reach of clean water law

The Supreme Court agreed Tuesday to consider a case about the reach of landmark federal clean-water protections, as the Trump administration spars with conservation groups on the same crucial environmental question. The justices agreed Tuesday to hear a case involving the Clean Water Act. The act requires polluters to get a permit when they release pollution from a source such as a pipe or well to certain bodies of water such as rivers and lakes that are called "navigable waters."
