[Podcast] El metaverso: ¿La próxima ola del futuro del trabajo? | Edumorfosis.Work | Scoop.it

Work | Scoop.it

Hybrid working will define the future of work, but firms are unprepared | Edumorfosis.Work | Scoop.it

While the move to flexible and hybrid working is widely accepted by businesses, their preparedness to implement such a strategy is not yet fully realized. That is the key finding of a new report from Siemens subsidiaries Comfy and Enlighted. Commissioned by Siemens from analyst firm Verdantix, the study polled 75 corporate real estate (CRE) executives from global companies with annual revenues of over $1 billion on the strategic considerations of redefining workforce models due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Leveraging the value proposition of Hybrid Events with the right technology

Leveraging the value proposition of Hybrid Events with the right technology | Edumorfosis.Work | Scoop.it

The COVID-19 virus and its many variants are likely far from done with us. As such, event producers and companies are contending with how to format their corporate events. Do they remain virtual, as was the case during the shutdowns? Do they go back to in-person events? Or is there way that they can take advantage of benefits of virtual and in-person events at the same time? In many cases, businesses are focusing on producing hybrid events. I think we’ll look at 2020 as the year business leaders learned that we can absolutely collaborate remotely, be productive, and serve our clients by applying the right technology solutions to meet virtual and in-person situations.

Unleashing the decentralized workforce

Unleashing the decentralized workforce | Edumorfosis.Work | Scoop.it

The pandemic has exposed the fault lines in our societies, in governance, trust, infrastructure, and the inequalities in gender, race, and age. Some 40-50% of workers around the world are currently able to work from home and there is talk of a remote work revolution.

The physical location of some work has changed, but the organization of that work is still very much centralized. Any substantial organizational change needs to be much deeper than just location.

Hybrid Working is fuelling demand for more tech and bigger homes – both are bad news for the planet

Hybrid Working is fuelling demand for more tech and bigger homes – both are bad news for the planet | Edumorfosis.Work | Scoop.it

Just 5% of employed people in the UK worked from home in 2019. The onset of the pandemic and the overnight shuttering of offices during the first lockdown meant 47% of employees were doing the same in April 2020.

Although returning to work in offices full time is now possible, the latest figures from May show 26% are still working from home while a further 11% are hybrid working: splitting their work time between the office and home.

With fewer people commuting and less food wasted as previously catered work events were held online instead, many hoped that a shift to remote working would benefit workers and the environment.

Automation, AI, and the Future of Jobs

Automation, AI, and the Future of Jobs | Edumorfosis.Work | Scoop.it

The First Industrial Revolution brought us the steam engine, while the Second Industrial Revolution focused on steel production, chemicals, electricity.

The Third Industrial Revolution, called the Digital Revolution, was characterized by the invention of the Internet and the World Wide Web.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution (the term was coined around 2015-2016) is a fusion of artificial intelligence (AI), advanced robotics, gene editing, 3D printing, and other technologies that obscure the physical, biological, and digital worlds.

How will the Fourth Industrial Revolution look? Profoundly exciting and highly problematic. New vistas will open where incredible breakthroughs can happen because AI holds enormous potential.

[PDF] Enterprise Blockchain for a Sustainable Future | Edumorfosis.Work | Scoop.it

The need for long-term social and environmental sustainability efforts has never been more apparent. As consumers demand more visibility into the provenance of products, and government regulations continue to encourage if not demand that corporations focus and invest in sustainability, businesses who do not take a stand today will lose out in the future.

In this comprehensive minibook, we look at sustainability through the lens of the Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) framework. We demystify the concept of sustainability with real-world examples and expert analysis and take an honest look at the current gaps in today’s sustainability initiatives.

Emerging technologies have already begun to transform the way we meet global sustainability challenges like safe food distribution, equitable access to energy and the overconsumption of resources across industries. In this minibook, we reveal how blockchain technology’s ability to track, trace, store and securely share data and information may hold the key to bridging the gap between good intentions and sustainability success. From supply chain management to digital identities, emerging technologies like blockchain may be critical in shaping a healthy, more sustainable future for all.

Facebook Horizon Workrooms vs FRAME by Virbela

The workplace is evolving. Everywhere you look, companies are evolving rapidly to a rising demand for more flexible, agile, and scalable work ecosystems. Part of this transformation involves untethering the concept of “work” from a specific office environment. As hybrid and remote working solutions evolve, companies are discovering the benefits of allowing flexible work.

Of course, distributed team members mean there are new challenges to overcome in bringing people together for collaborative tasks. This is where VR solutions can make a huge impact. Virtual reality collaboration apps transform the workplace into a virtual environment employees can visit from anywhere in the world.

La Economía Gig que marcará el futuro del trabajo

La Economía Gig que marcará el futuro del trabajo | Edumorfosis.Work | Scoop.it

With the rise of remote work, people are still craving some of the old features of the in-person office experience. Virtual workspaces are being created to simulate those water-cooler-type moments and give people a way to connect in meaningful ways even without being together in person. Beyond The Hype: A few years ago, the hype around VR was at a fever pitch, and the anticipation surrounding the technology becoming ubiquitous was palpable. That didn’t happen as quickly as everyone expected, but the VR industry has been making steady steps forward. Rather than get hopped up on the hype cycle, companies that have taken a slow and steady approach to developing their VR technology have been more successful than those that turned out to just be flashes in the pan. Physical Things, Virtual World: The future of VR will be built on how companies can sell or recreate physical things in a virtual world. Certain companies are already doing this, particularly in real estate, where VR walk-throughs are being used to sell real, physical properties all over the world.

It is likely that your resume / LinkedIn profile comprises a list of skills acquired along your career journey to date. You are telling the world that you are just the person to hire if you need any of these skills.

We all hope that the skills we have acquired will be attractive to the market. Your ability to program in R, replace a hip or manage a ‘pay per click’ campaign does have value. But for how long? Where does this leave you, when your employer no longer needs this specific skill?

The Future of Work is flexible: Debunking 5 myths about Flexible Work

The Future of Work is flexible: Debunking 5 myths about Flexible Work | Edumorfosis.Work | Scoop.it

To work from home or not to work from home: that is the question for many office executives as the world starts to reopen. Companies both big and small are facing a turning point as the world shifts to a new, post-pandemic future: should employees stay remote and work from home, or head back into the office full-time?

When it comes to flexible working arrangements, executives and managers have long been wary. For many years, office managers have equated productivity with seeing their employees in their office chairs. If they do allow employees to shift to the home office, even part time, managers worry that they will set a dangerous new precedent: empty offices and hard-to-monitor employees. Sound familiar?
