About - Google Maps

About - Google Maps | TA4T - There's an App 4 That | Scoop.it
Discover the world with Google Maps. Experience Street View, 3D Mapping, turn-by-turn directions, indoor maps and more across your devices.
Vincent Jansens insight:
Derek Cutler presented a fantastic session on MyMaps at the recent Google Summit. Although I  have not used this tool, I know several people who map out many activities, from running, hiking, travel and places of interest so this is a tool worth reviewing for classroom or personal use.

Here is a link to his document. bit.ly/maps4gafe which has sample maps for each subject area.

Making Learning Awesome!

Kahoot! is a free game-based learning platform that makes it fun to learn – any subject, in any language, on any device, for all ages!
Vincent Jansens insight:
Kahoot adds a play like atmosphere to learning or reviewing concepts. You can add this type of activity to any of your classes, as a review quiz, challenge or just a fun activity on a new topic. Since students can join the Kahoot on any device, it is a tool that everyone can participate in and enjoy the challenge. I have used it many times as quick review questions, sure mostly multiple choice, but it gets then to focus on understanding the question. Try it yourself.

BioDigital: 3D Human Visualization Platform for Anatomy and Disease

BioDigital: 3D Human Visualization Platform for Anatomy and Disease | TA4T - There's an App 4 That | Scoop.it
The BioDigital Human is a virtual 3D body that brings to life thousands of medically accurate anatomy objects and health conditions in an interactive Web-based platform
Vincent Jansens insight:
One the advantages of technology is the ability to create learning simulations that is simply not available in the classroom. BioDigital certainly takes this premise to a deeper level. Although there is much more depth of content here than required in a K-12 science class,  the ability to filter out layers it is a great addition to exploration of the human body, explanation of sports injuries, disease etc. Biology was not like this when I was in school.

Meet Google Keep – Save your thoughts, wherever you are

Meet Google Keep – Save your thoughts, wherever you are | TA4T - There's an App 4 That | Scoop.it
Vincent Jansens insight:
Google Keep is a simple notes collection tool, where you can capture quick thoughts, and other insights very quickly. This is good for recording personal notes in a meetings, write down new ideas or just a grocery list. One of my main uses is  in class where I jot down  notes on student success, thus I have a note of evidence when it comes time to write comments.

It has many features but the ones I like best is that you can create notifications for any note, you can share a note with anyone and of course convert the note to a Google Doc. It is a well used tool in the Google platform that integrates well with G Suite. And best yet it has a chrome extension and is available on all devices.
