Meet our newest Sustainable Event Alliance Accredited Professionals

Meet our newest Sustainable Event Alliance Accredited Professionals | Sustainable Events News | Scoop.it

We are very happy to announce our newest SEA Accredited Professionals from Singapore, Australia, Portugal and USA.

As the global events industry is in a hiatus, those of us not being consumed by the pivot to virtual have had time to think more deeply about sustainability and how that might be applied to events as we move out of this global crisis. It is obvious that moving forwards, events must be purpose-led and responsibly address four key concerns: covid-safe, climate impact, single use plastic, and inclusivity.

"Becoming a member of the SEA has allowed me to connect and learn from some of the brightest minds in the sustainability and events space, something I hope to continue as a SEA-accredited event sustainability specialist.

Completing the accreditation has enabled me to gain an in-depth understanding of a wide range of sustainability issues, from ethical and sustainable supply chains through to energy and water conservation; responsible waste management; social innovation; or sustainable travel. I have really enjoyed this practical learning experience which I have already applied, and will continue to use in my sustainability work." Trang Chu Minh, Singapore

The SEA Accredited Professional programme independently assesses event professional's knowledge and application of sustainable event management best practice. Applicants must meet pre-requisites to apply.

Event industry and sustainability stakeholders from around the world announce the formation of the Global Reusables at Events Hygiene Project.

Event industry and sustainability stakeholders from around the world announce the formation of the Global Reusables at Events Hygiene Project. | Sustainable Events News | Scoop.it

Global Reusables at Events Hygiene Project

The project has been developed to ensure that reusable items such as cups are implemented per best practice hygiene standards for live entertainment, music, festivals and sports events, following increased hygiene concerns.

The project was born out of the Sustainable Event Alliance’s global hackathon that was held in April where 800 event industry representatives gathered to look at risks and opportunities to #buildbackbetter as we emerge from this global crisis.

The RH Project’s mission is to support the ongoing implementation of reuse by developing a best practice hygiene operating guideline for reusable containers at events and venues based on existing standards and evidence that will drive assurance, transparency and accountability for consumers, industry and government.

The RH Working Group includes representatives from the Sustainable Event Alliance, Green Events International, A Greener Festival and Oceanic Global as well as reusable cup companies, event delivery experts and other specialists, and is supported by The Ocean Race.

If you're interested in effective ways to encourage people to act sustainably, join a conversation in the Green Room on 7 July with Livvy Drake. Ask your questions now. | Sustainable Events News | Scoop.it

What drives behaviours at events? What makes people litter, leave their rubbish, complain about the vegan menu or expect bottled water? How do you get someone to carry reusable water bottle or coffee cup?

If you are trying to make your event more 'sustainable' these are some questions you may be having - how do we make people care?! Behaviour is driven by a number of factors including the event culture and social norms people fall into, plus the infrastructure and set-up which leads people's behaviours and reinforces those cultural norms.

I'm Livvy Drake and I have worked with events on radically changed the social norms using various behaviour change techniques, which I would love to share with you. Ask me anything about behaviour change at events on Tuesday 7th July at 16.00 BST. I will be in the Green Room answering your questions.
