Titanic’s soundtrack sold nearly 30 million copies. This is a staggering number for any album to achieve yet alone a primarily orchestral score album. James Horner’s lyrical music for “Titanic” is a fine score. It is instantly accessible and strikes the exact right emotional chord at the perfect moment. There are even exciting some suspense and action cues such as “The Sinking”. Still, most film music critics, soundtracks enthusiasts, and Horner fans would say that the accomplished and prolific composer has created many far superior scores throughout his thirty plus year career. The makers of Titanic 3D have announced that they are re-releasing the film's original soundtrack. The anniversary collection and special collector's edition will be put out on March 26 to coincide with the film's release on April 6 and the Titanic setting sail on April 10 in 1912. The newly-remastered version of the original soundtrack includes extensive bonus material, including an unreleased disc of period music recorded for the movie by I Salonisti - the five-piece quintet that appears in the film. The collector's edition includes two additional discs featuring the remastered original soundtrack - which sold over three million copies on its first release - and Popular Music From The Titanic Era, a new compilation of songs from the early 1900s.

In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Titanic's launch and the 15th anniversary of the world's most beloved and acclaimed film, Sony Classical proudly releases the Collector's Anniversary Edition of Music from the Motion Picture TITANIC. The 4-CD set features newly remastered versions of both the original and BACK TO TITANIC soundtracks, a previously unreleased disc of period music recorded for the movie by I Salonisti, the 5-piece quintet that appears in the film, as well as Popular Music From The Titanic Era, a new compilation of songs from the early 1900's.
