This year, our guest star James Horner, conductor David Newman and the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra set off to discover fascinating new worlds.
ON TO NEW WORLDS
At the beginning of this year’s journey we visit to the futuristic METROPOLIS. Accompanied by its big city-sounds we are entering the world of science-fiction. After our first high-altitude flights with Steve Bramson’s »IMPRESSIONS OF SPACE MOUNTAIN« we are ready to take off to extra-terrestrial space. There we dock at the spaceship Enterprise with warp-speed and STAR TREK by Jerry Goldsmith and Michael Giacchino. Still on our way somewhere in galaxies far, far away in an ulterior future Michael Nyman’s music toGATTACA is guiding us through outer space. John Williams is finally bringing us back to earth to give us some musical and emotional understanding for the dystopic roboter-society of ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. In the thrilling finale of the first part, aliens from outer space come for a visit, lured by David Arnold’s music for INDEPENDENCE DAY.
After this breathtaking adventure in the first part of the evening, we will welcome this year's guest of honor and two-time Oscar winner James Horner....
A great way to remember and honor James Horner on the first anniversary of his departing.
