Google’s Next Big Goal for the Home: Make Sound Smart

Google’s Next Big Goal for the Home: Make Sound Smart | Soundtrack | Scoop.it

"When Google introduced its $399 Google Home Max speaker at its press event in San Francisco on Wednesday, the company didn’t just reveal a bigger, better-sounding speaker. The device is also a first step to use Google’s vast computing resources to make sound itself smart."

Kami Schaefer's curator insight, October 18, 2017 7:28 PM

Google's next product called the Google Home Max speaker is just making its appearance in the world. Personally owning a google product, the google pixel phone, I absolutely love it compared to any android, or apple product I've owned. This speaker seems like it would be worth the $399.

This source seems reliable for the fact the site seems legit, all numbers and words are assorted correctly and straight forward. This website is definitely promoting all google products but the speaker in particular.

I feel this source can be somewhat useful to people in the audio industry for the simple fact that they're selling and audio based product. Music related items typically spark the interest of people within the music industry.

Google Pushes You Tube To Top Of New Music Search Results - hypebot

Google Pushes You Tube To Top Of New Music Search Results - hypebot | Soundtrack | Scoop.it
Users searching for a song or music video on Google will now find YouTube prominently at the top of new search results. For example, a fan searching for "Sunray Venus Throwing Muses" nets a large graphic box that appears to be a player, but actually links to the video on YouTube. Search results are not always to official videos. The change is consistent with other Google moves to integrate and promote its many products and services within it's own ecosystem. Putting YouTube at the top of more search results could also be part of the run-up to the rumored launch...

Sounds like a means of making it easier for rights-owners to find and take down potential copyright violators.

When I first heard that Google had created a timeline for music history, I was pretty excited; however, I held little hope that, even if they bothered with a breakdown of genre, "film music" would be included.  Well, big ups to Google for including that very genre and many, many others.  Have a look and enjoy the data.
