Facebook Announces New 'Music Stories' Feature

Facebook Announces New 'Music Stories' Feature | Soundtrack | Scoop.it
Facebook is trying to make music work... again. After some less-than-stellar starts and stops, including a much-maligned 2011 feature which telegraphed Facebook user's Spotify listens to their friends, the company is taking a much more measured approach to its new foray into music. As one source says frankly, music as a thing hasn't really existed on the platform. Now it will... sort of.
Christopher Coleman's insight:

Is Facebook eyeing a music-streaming service, a la Spotify?

Christopher Coleman's insight:

This would surprise no one.  Just keep your mits off Spotify, Facebook.

Lee Jones's curator insight, November 13, 2016 11:20 PM
This is another reason that music streaming is everywhere and is changing how music is distributed.
George Cunningham's curator insight, August 17, 2017 5:21 PM

Not really informative, pure vision, and suspicion. That would be a huge jump for Spotify with the amount users that Facebook has and would destroy competition. Looking forward to this if it is true.

darrian's curator insight, September 19, 2017 9:34 PM

This is a very short detailed article. I think Facebook getting in on the music streaming service will be interesting based off the fact that their platform already has so many users. Im very sure this website is not one used by industry professionals. It seems to be reliable.

Christopher Coleman's insight:

The concept has some merit (sounds a little like an audio-only version of Chromecast), but limiting to Facebook login only at launch is a significant deterrent.

Digital Music News - Facebook+Spotify: An 'Unfair, Insider, Anti-Competitive' Relationship...

Digital Music News - Facebook+Spotify: An 'Unfair, Insider, Anti-Competitive' Relationship... | Soundtrack | Scoop.it

If you're a music fan, you probably don't care about this. But if you're not one of Facebook's chosen music partners, it's cold on the outside. Which is the case for Cole Flournoy, the entrepreneur behind LetsListen who's pointing to Facebook+Spotify as an overly-cozy, unfairly insider, and downright anti-competitive alliance - especially after the launch of 'Listen With Me'.
