The film score of this movie was a largely talked about score for quite some time in the music industry. The 20-year collaboration of director Sam Mendes and composer Thomas Newman has encompassed midlife crisis (“American Beauty”), crime in the Depression (“Road to Perdition”), the Gulf War (“Jarhead”), marriage in the 1950s (“Revolutionary Road”) and two James Bond films (“Skyfall,” “Spectre”). Now they are taking on a World War I film with, "1917", its about two British soldiers who need to pass on a message to a large group of soldiers before a large-scale flank attack comes in to take them all out. The publishers at Universal pictures gave this information to this source for it to be public and for the fans and people to read about and to gain popularity for the film. This is a pro for Sam Mendes and Thomas Newman because they are innovating their original style of music to an old school classic war theme. |
