How to Effectively Manage Social Media Marketing For Small Business

How to Effectively Manage Social Media Marketing For Small Business | Simply Social Media | Scoop.it

Social media has grown in the past few years and it continues to grow with very little signs of slowing down. In fact, I would say that the term social media marketing will soon morph into simply “marketing”.

It’s a given that most people are online in one way or another, and whether your target audience is on Facebook, LinkedIn or SnapChat, chances are they have a social media account somewhere (72% do and that number is rising).

A small business is more likely to have success if they take advantage of the how the platforms are used to connect with current and potential customers. Utilizing social media is a bit more involved than just signing up for an account. Once an account is created, it needs to be managed.

But, how can you properly manage a social media account when you’re busy dealing with the day-to-day operations? Hopefully this post will help get you going in the right direction! Here are some ideas to managing social media marketing for small business...

How to Create Content That Sells [SlideShare] | Simply Social Media | Scoop.it

...But we all know that the buying journey doesn't end once someone's received a free ebook -- and your content shouldn't, either. To be successful, content that helps your company close more customers needs to be different than your typical marketing-focused content.

But what does that actually mean? How do you make content that'll help your company sell?

Doug Kessler, famous for his previous SlideShare presentations on the crap content deluge and the meaning in B2B marketing, has put together the following presentation to help answer those questions. Flip through it to learn how you can make your content less about marketing and more about selling -- without being spammy about it....

Why Social Signals Should be Your New BFF - Brandpoint.com

Why Social Signals Should be Your New BFF - Brandpoint.com | Simply Social Media | Scoop.it

So what are social signals? Social signals are any type of link from a social media site connected to your blog or website. Some social signals include +1s on Google+, likes on Facebook and retweets on Twitter. For example: If you were on Brandpoint’s Twitter page and retweeted our tweet promoting this blog, you have given Google a social signal.

Why social signals are important, and why should they be your new BFF

Going back to our example, your social signal means you found the content of this blog valuable and worth reading, and Brandpoint to have authority on the subject of social signals, because you’re willing to share our content with your social networking community.

Because of Google’s wishy-washy answers on whether or not social signals are or are not a part of its algorithm, no one exactly knows how strong a role they play in organic SEO. All digital marketers can conclude is that social signals definitely do something positive, and the strength of their effect has grown stronger over time. The more social signals you receive, the more Google knows you have authority on the subject in your brand’s space, and the trust of your audience and consumers. Here’s the equation....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Good look at the value of social signals.

17 ways to boost your website's credibility - Content Marketing and Social Media Success | Simply Social Media | Scoop.it
Do you remember your first website? I wish I had a screen shot of mine. I have part of GeoCities and it was an unholy mess, bright yellow if my memory serves me correctly.Fast forward a few years to 2006 and I had a really lovely Flash website in orange and silver, with sliding doors that opened and closed when you changed pages. They even made swishing sounds as they opened and closed. I had lots of traffic, or what I thought was a lot of traffic and all the visitors loved playing with those sliding doors.Of course no one ever called, we didn’t have our phone number on the site and when we finally got around to adding it we put it at the bottom of the page because we didn’t want people to think they had to ring us right away… Did I mention I have a business degree? No? Good, because you wouldn’t think it from the downright ridiculous things we had (or didn’t have) on our website....

Social media marketing is a great tool to help reach this goal as it easily connects customers with the business.
