Feel free to share this book with your followers on Facebook! Before Christmas, I began to feel really sluggish, I had constant headaches, my clothes were tight and uncomfortable and I couldn’t bear to look at myself in the mirror. As we approached the new year I was feeling worse by the minute but you know how it is around that time. Parties, food, and drink. Finally, the new year came around and I took the plunge to face my fears and see how much I weighed and it wasn’t pretty; I weighed in at 171 pounds. Now I don’t want to offend anyone but I actually find that a heavyweight, and no it’s not because of the media, I don’t want to be a size 6 with no energy. What’s important for me is that I am a healthy weight and I feel good in myself. I have quite a small frame and I wouldn’t say I was exactly tall so I would actually be classified as obese, although I think that is ridiculous. Having weighed me, I definitely got the motivation to change things up. Now, we normally make homemade meals anyway for our tea but the problem was snacks, takeaways, and what we were eating for our lunch. So I made a plan – each week I make a food plan for all 3 meals a day ensuring we’re eating healthy food under our calorie count but as well as this what exercise can we do with little cost. I record absolutely everything on my FitBit, not because I’m rigid on my diet but because it gives me guidance on what I’m doing right, what I’m doing wrong, and how I need to make up for it. We’re not just eating salads because quite frankly it would never last, we still eat pasta we still have wine, it’s just all in moderation.

With my hypothyroid issues, I typically lose about a half pound a week when I’m solidly focused on eating well. This month, so far, I have lost six pounds, which is an average of about a pound and a half a week. I’m still searching for a good integrative doctor in my area to make sense of my hormones and thyroid symptoms, but I am certainly happy to begin to see progress. Eating a clean vegan diet was not new to me on January 1st. I actually began this lifestyle in early December. Eating a plant-based whole-food diet is not difficult at all for me. The change that seems to have helped is exercise four to five days a week.
