Do it because you want to feel better about yourself, do it because you want to be able to run and play with your grandkids, do it because you deserve to live a happy, healthy life. Every time I attempted to eat healthily or lose some weight I was doing it for everyone else. I wanted to look good before I returned home, I was afraid people wouldn’t accept me at my current weight, I didn’t want others to make fun of me anymore, and as you can imagine I was always unsuccessful in my endeavors. The problem with using others as motivation is that when those people move on in life, or when that new guy finds a girlfriend, your sole motivation is GONE! Also, I find that using outside sources of motivation can lead to depression, especially when it’s based on a crush. If you’re anything like me these feelings force you to curl up in bed with a bag of chocolate and some Ben and Jerry’s, and you wind up gaining back all the weight you lost and then some.
