An opportunity for Latin America: jump directly into science as it will be performed and disseminated in the 21st century. Free, fast and fluid communication of scientific results will be more and more at the core of scientific research itself in the near future. Persisting in the old fashion will keep scientists between walls and make them miss the next generation step.
The project, entitled LA Referencia, is designed as an online federated network of institutional repositories of scientific publications. Its goal is to offer open access to scientific papers and doctoral and master's theses in partner countries — Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, México, Perú and Venezuela.
