Friends Village in #NewtownPA Celebrates New Direction With a "Rock and Roll Out" Party

Friends Village in #NewtownPA Celebrates New Direction With a "Rock and Roll Out" Party | Newtown News of Interest | Scoop.it

[from Bucks Local News]

Friends Village, formerly known as Friends Home & Village, has adopted a brand new look to better reflect its new strategic direction.

And on Saturday, April 30 they celebrated the new direction with a Rock and Roll Out Party featuring live music, good food, a silent auction and a nostalgic trip back to the 50s when poodle skirts and greased hair were the thing.

Research shows that what contributes most to health and wellness is strong and caring social connections, and a sense of purpose in life. Friends Village is focusing on these factors – the things that are truly important – to develop a new model of community that fits how we live and age now.

The 125 year old “Friends Home and Village” will now be known simply as “Friends Village.”

The Village will continue to offer the most affordable non-subsidized independent and assisted living for older adults in the area, while focusing on sustaining and improving wellness test than treating illness.

But it will do so with a brand new look, website and strategic direction.

Image: I attended the Newtown Friends Village Rock and Roll-Out yesterday. We met some nice people (Perry and Liz Warren, Terry Christiansen, Jan Filios, among others ) and talked with Maia Simon about native plants, posed with classic cars, ate some ice cream, and listened to doo-wop music. Friends Home & Village has older residents in both independent living cottages and personal care rooms. The theme of the meeting was focused on its new mission, vision, and brand look planned for the future.
