Bristol Borough will hold its first ever annual National Night Out on the grounds of Snyder-Girotti Elementary School on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022.
“What I’m trying to achieve is good community relations with the citizens of Bristol Borough and a positive interaction with the children of the borough,” Moors said.
The event will feature members of local law enforcement, emergency vehicles, health and resource information, a bounce house, games, face painting, DJ, give-a-ways and a chance to meet the new police chief.
National Night Out is a community-building event that works to promote and strengthen relationships between local neighborhoods and police departments, with the events typically occurring on the first Tuesday in August.
This year, Bensalem, Middletown, Quakertown, Richland, Buckingham, Solebury, Morrisville, Bristol Borough, Falls,Bristol Township and Doylestown Township will host events.*
* Why Newtown is NOT Included...
When asked about participating in the October 26, 2020 National Night Out event, NTPD Chief Hearn said that “after looking into it, Middletown Township advised they usually hire 20-25 officers for the event and he does not think Newtown will be able to do that. Chief Hearn added that Newtown’s Welcome Day is our community event and he reviewed the other local events the police department conducts to engage the community” [see minutes of the August 5, 2020, BOS meeting; and listen to the Chief’s comments on YouTube ]
In any case, the 2020 event was delayed or canceled due to COVID-19 (read “#COVID-19 Delays - in Some Cases, Cancels - National Night Out Community Policing Events”).
Newtown PD sponsored community events include: “Coffee with a Cop” and “Cars, Cops, and Coffee.” The latter event is scheduled for Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Veterans Park in Newtown
