Since the dawn of vaccination there has been a war of disinformation, propagated by both sides. The anti-vaccinationists have lied, bent statistics, invented scare stories and buried facts that undermine their case. They have committed crimes against medicine, science and humanity, and exposed millions to the dangers of preventable infections. The other side may be guilty of far less heinous crimes, but it is not blame-free. The evangelistic desire to spread the benefits of vaccines as widely as possible led pro-vaccinationists to play down the risks, giving fuel to arguments against vaccination.

How the industry targets youth

In its efforts to manipulate young people, the tobacco industry has resorted to embellishing products to make them more appealing to specific demographics, particularly via packaging or branding. This has been especially evident in the recent explosion of interest in e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products. One of the most significant innovations by the industry involves its marketing strategies. Across sectors, advertising is increasingly moving online and the tobacco industry is no different – tobacco companies are turning more and more to social media influencers to market these dangerous products.

Globally, there are 1.1 billion adult smokers, 60% of them want or intend to quit. Much has been written and said about the potential of electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) such as e-cigarettes to help tobacco users quit. While the evidence is still inconclusive, e-cigarettes are often used along with one or more tobacco products. As this is the practice with many ENDS users, the health effects of two or more products are combined.

RESULTS: Youth exposure to television e-cigarette advertisements, measured by target rating points, increased 256% from 2011 to 2013. Young adult exposure increased 321% over the same period. More than 76% of all youth e-cigarette advertising exposure occurred on cable networks and was driven primarily by an advertising campaign for 1 e-cigarette brand.

Perchè Zorba?

Kengah, una gabbiana, è pronta per deporre il suo primo uovo ma dopo un tuffo in mare per catturare un’aringa finisce bloccata in una pozza di petrolio. Liberatesi a fatica atterra sul balcone di Zorba, un grosso gatto nero.

Stremata, usa le sue ultime forze per deporre l'uovo e chiede al gatto di farle tre promesse: non mangiare l'uovo, prendersi cura del piccolo e insegnargli a volare.
La gabbianella nasce, viene battezzata Fortunata e, dopo mille vicissitudini, grazie a Zorba, ai suoi amici gatti e a un saggio umano, impara a librarsi nel cielo.

“Zorba” è un omaggio al grande scrittore cileno Luis Sepulveda.

Zorba ora è anche un programma televisivo nato per raccontare il mondo della sostenibilità ambientale e della salute.
