Should I Choose Sass or Substance? | Ask The Name Lady

I've thought carefully about what I love about those names and it's the image of a fun and feisty little girl. I found two other names I love that I feel share a similar vibe but are less popular: Pepper and Cricket. In other words, I've discovered that what I love are peppy nicknames.

"Sib sets"

A lot of people on naming message boards ask if certain names make a good “sib(ling) set,” or play games where a fantasy family is named. Really, while I understand it’s nice for your children’s names to be similar in style, it’s not the end of the world if they don’t exactly match.
Clare's insight:

"Sibset" is a prime example of the special vocab used by the online name community (others off the top of my head include "smoosh" and "combination" in specific senses), and here Carrie-Anne gives her take on the issue.

Help Me Connect These Random Names! | Ask The Name Lady

Is it possible for names with obvious backgrounds and histories to pair well with names outside of the same genre? I have a son named Elijah (Eli) and am now pregnant with my second son. My husband and I are in love with the name August, but we're afraid the pairing screams "random." A good-sounding sibling set is extremely important to us. Are we limited to biblical names, or are there other options for us to create a harmonious sib-set?
Clare's insight:

I think the Name Lady makes a convincing case for connecting the two names by style and nicknames.  After all, they clearly both appeal to parents like the one asking the question.

Hi Swistle! A name I've recently stumbled upon/remembered is Faye. I think it's adorable- short and sweet and with a very cute meaning (fairy). But when I think about the name's style, I can't real...
Clare's insight:

Out of curiosity, I looked up the popularity of this name in England and Wales, and found that while Fay's usage has gone down quite a bit over the last 20 years (only 16 girls in 2013), Faye-with-an-e has been very steady in the 100s (182 girls in 2013).  Interesting.

Clare's insight:

To anyone who hangs out on name websites like we do, these names are likely to sound fresh and appealing.  Do they still seem outrageous to the layman?  Apparently.  And, to be fair, I'd be surprised (but delighted) to meet a Django or a Juniper in real life.
