How Daddy Yankee and 'Barrio Fino' Redefined Latin Music

Pj Camachos insight:
This was a great article, I remember back in my younger years regardless of not understanding the lyrics. I would still try and sing along with Daddy Yankee’s music. To see how Latin music was redefined and the story behind it is amazing. It crazy how sometimes you can just sit around and either think or do something out of the ordinary and then it becomes something bigger then you thought. Source was a bit limited de to membership log on. I’m not one to keep making all these accounts just to sign into something I may not use as much. But in the end, great article.

Taylor Swift just showed Apple who runs the music industry

Taylor Swift just showed Apple who runs the music industry | Music Production | Scoop.it
The biggest corporate takedown in history was done by a 26-year old pop star. When Taylor met Apple.

Pj Camachos insight:
Here is a perfect way to stand up. If people are going to put in all the work just for others to either download or upload freely, why not compensate those for their work. This says a lot and I 100% agree with Swift. Pay up or get the content taken away. Sadly Spotify had to be an example that she meant business. But then again it is her and her teams creation that is making those stream companies money off of her fans.
Laharla Aries Williams's curator insight, March 22, 11:36 PM
I think that Taylor Swift deserves every part of her royalties and Apple needs to get their services In order.
Christina Murdock's curator insight, June 21, 9:31 PM
I think in this particular instance, Taylor Swift was right by calling out Apple for being greedy. I think it's a credible source because there is an author and links/pictures of where they got their information from and the website seems/looks legit. I think it would be a credible source to audio industry professionals.

Pj Camachos insight:
Spotify has shown a lot of improvement lately. Despite the article a few years back on the lawsuit against them, seeing them progress truly shows that regardless on the obstacle anything can be achieved if you continue to fight for it.

The author of this article Jon Porter listed his resources well and wrote a positive move about Spotify investing in Pod-Cast. There exploring the world beyond music.

1. I think this article is very important because its the proof the streaming channels can help artist exposure.

2. this article is reliable because its from one of the top news websites,

3. an artist would visit this website because of the amount of important news in the industry
Travis Jefferson's curator insight, April 26, 11:57 PM
Podcasts, being a newer form of audio entertainment. With the new market emerging, it blows open a new lane for artist to diversify and monetize. Artists can own content and profit, while in between musical ventures.

Pj Camachos insight:
I would invest in my favorite Artist t see how far they can take things. I feel regardless on how many views each one gets per song it still doesn’t add up to what the music is actually worth. I feel stream companies don’t pay enough either for the content that keeps their companies moving.
caelan's curator insight, March 22, 6:25 PM
i Think its import for people to start investing in artist because it could boos the whole industry and  could help boos the artist and if they blow up then the money is double or even better which just creates a better environment
Rolling stone is the biggest new reporting crew for the music industry and its very reliable

Blockchain could completely transform the music industry. @investorseurope #blockchain | Music Production | Scoop.it
Digital music really could use some help. Industry revenues are dipping due to piracy and illegal use of content. Singers and composers are being short-changed by music companies and streaming services. And business models built upon patterns and practices dating back to early 20th century, decades before the invention of digital and online services, are fueling a lot of bad will.

Pj Camachos insight:
Seems like this is becoming a norm these days. Stream companies gain more then the actually artist for their content. Not right at all. How it is evolving into a norm, Artist should become more aware and prepared to fight against it. If an artist does not defend against being short changed, I feel like its because it probably doesn’t affect them as much as most people make it out to be.
Heather Murray's curator insight, September 16, 2018 9:49 PM
The blockchain is something that has interested me as soon as I heard about it. Based on all the research I've done, I learned this is the industry I want to join. One that's a tad bit more organized and compensation is fair amongst everyone who had a part in it.

This article came from VentureBeat.com, a website with news, events, and research about the latest tech, gaming trends, and things that are transforming peoples lives. This is a website and company many big names and companies go to for their news as well as follow on social media and LinkedIn, one big name who follows is Full Sail University.

Ayuba Cunningham's curator insight, September 22, 2019 1:12 PM
This article is was a great reading.  Artist/musicians are getting cheated by streamers and labels. This list gives documents that help artist/musicians connect with their friends, get legal piracy, and to get the majority of their revenues.

It was very interesting to read about how " blockchains" could change the music industry for the better. Everyone that works in a music project should get the recognition and credit they deserve for their hard work. This is something that could bring big change in the industry. Also, this looks like a very credible source, definitely suggest checking it out.
