jonathan3banks@gmail.coms insight:
First, in November last year, we had Taylor Swift inking a global deal with Republic Records / Universal Music Group – an agreement under which she appears likely to license her music rights to UMG on a relatively short-term basis. “It’s incredibly exciting to know that I’ll own all of my masters from now on,” said Swift on Instagram when announcing that agreement. “It’s really important to me to see eye to eye with a label regarding the future of our industry.” Those words, of course, became all the more prescient last month, thanks to Swift’s masters-related public fallout with Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun. This week, another major music industry player is stating their joy at having struck a major label deal whereby masters are retained. This time, it’s not an artist doing the celebrating, but Pat Corcoran – the super-manager of Chance The Rapper, and therefore a key architect of one of the most talked about label-free artist campaigns of recent years.

This article details a positive shift forward for label companies and artist ownership over creative rights. Although labels are still involved, Warner Bros has achieved a balance that focuses on an artist-first approach that gives artists direct ownership over their masters and creative rights, as well as profit sharing over royalties. This shift will encourage the further independence emerging over this next decade.

After investigating the source, I believe this article is a major informational resource for audio industry professionals. Pandora’s $5-a-month option could be a game-changer

Pandora’s $5-a-month option could be a game-changer | Music producer | Scoop.it
The internet radio player is seeking to challenge streaming rivals with a revamped $5-a-month service that will give users added functionality, such as the ability to skip songs and play music offline, sources said.

“The $5 offer will be killer for them,” said one industry insider. “Pandora has 76 million users that listen for free. It will have an easier time to get them to pay $5, so you might see some people switch back to Pandora.”

It will have an easier time to get them to pay $5, so you might see some people switch back to Pandora.” Most unlimited streaming services charge $10 a month. Pandora is also planning to offer a full-fledged streaming option in that same price range, along with the cheaper $5 tier, sources said.

Spotify, Apple, watch out! Pandora is coming after you with a $5 offer!
Jonathan Fondren's curator insight, October 20, 2019 3:34 PM
Opinion: I like this article because this could be very great for Pandora, or not so much on the other hand. I believe the $5-month option would be very appealing to people who want to enjoy music for less than the premium $10+ prices. Also, the large community of consumers that Pandora has, may bring profit rather a loss for the company. Now on the flip side, there are many competitors, and I’m wondering, if anyone else will jump on the lower-price option wagon. Like the article says, definitely could be a game-changer.

Evaluation: The article was cited and visibly displayed information on the author, date, and professional expertise of the authority.

Major Source: This definitely could be a major source for audio industry professionals because there could be a business/marketing strategy based off of this change.

Emily White has made a career out of helping independent creators as a manager, label owner and much more. She’s in the trenches with them every day. Fortunately, we are in a time when d.i.y., independent and major label artists have more diverse opportunities than ever to build a career. But that career is only sustainable if – and it’s a big, sometimes complex IF – they understand the many revenue streams available and how to collect them. That’s the premise and the promise of Emily White‘s important new book “How to Build a Sustainable Music Career and Collect All Revenue Streams.”
Alanna Hayes's curator insight, May 25, 8:58 PM
Another article with Zoe Keating, but more so an interview to help build a sustainable career. A completely independent instrumental artist collecting her own revenue. This is important to all artists coming out into the world, so they can get bank and recognition for their talents too.

Starting a career in the music industry can be very difficult to do , however having a game plan is the key. Knowing the business side is the most important part. This article does a good job of discussing having a manager, having a distribution plan and the importance of getting the business side of things squared aware first.  Many individuals just dive in to the music careers without taking time to focus on the business side and obligations and this can be a crucial mistake.

Don't believe the hype about human music curators

Don't believe the hype about human music curators | Music producer | Scoop.it
All signs point to more stuff like this in our future. Apple's big new feature this year is a Discover Weekly knockoff called Discovery Mix. Pretty much everyone is talking about getting deeper into personalized recommendations, which inevitably means recommendations that depend more on AI. Even Pandora has steadily shifted away from human-powered labeling in favor of big data analysis.

According this article, it is my personal opinion that hand made play are truly better than automated playlist that the computer or any stream system could produce the fans. Got to remember apply your personality in hand made playlist make the difference, rather than auto stream playlist.

I could hardly disagree more with this fellow.
Playlists should not be evaluated based on efficiency and audience acquisition, but on sense, meaning, feelings... human factor.
