n Arizona pastor known for his virulently anti-LGBT views went on a podium-stomping tirade recently after businesses began cutting off their services to his and other bigoted pastors’ churches, the Friendly Atheist reports.

 

Pastor Steven Anderson, who heads the Faithful Word Baptist Church in Phoenix, Arizona, lashed out this week at activists who successfully petitioned businesses like PayPal and Apple to shut down his accounts after his hate speech. While Anderson posted his June 22 sermon on a website called Archive, the Friendly Atheist uploaded a sampling to YouTube.

 

After the June 12 massacre at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Anderson posted a video in which he said there are “50 less pedophiles” in the world. Forty-nine people were killed in the mass shooting at the gay nightclub.

 

Anderson has been reaping the consequences of his words, and he is not happy about it.

Negative ratings of Trump are up 10 percentage points from last month to their highest point since he announced his candidacy last summer, nearly reaching the level seen before his campaign began (71 percent). The survey was conducted Wednesday through Sunday among a random national sample of U.S. adults, coming after last week's primary contests, but with the large majority of interviews completed before Sunday's massacre at an Orlando club.

Nearly three years after San Diego struggled to remove embattled Mayor Bob Filner from office, city officials say they’re ready to put greatly expanded opportunities to oust wayward officials on the November ballot.

 

Some of the new removal methods are more aggressive than what other cities allow, such as suspending officials when they’ve been criminally charged but not convicted, and letting the City Council put a removal vote on the ballot by simply declaring "no confidence" in the mayor or city attorney.
