I can tell you from personal experience, homes that do not have gutters typically have issues with erosion. On one of my sales the seller gave the buyer a hefy credit towards fixing an erosion issue, the house did not have gutters.
Gutters are designed specifically to reduce erosion by guiding water to a drain or safe area. Gutters have a limited capacity and may overflow, although they still effectively remove a large volume of water. Rain gutters are affixed to your roof and are usually made of aluminum, copper, or plastic.
