I needed to know Captain Nemo’s history, and there was no telling when it might be revealed. So I pressed forward with this stupid book that was stupid. This was my entire weekend. And I know, for an absolute fact, that in a 500-page edition of The Mysterious Island, Captain Nemo will not be called by name any earlier than page 452. A rare copy of Jules Verne novel « De la Terre à la Lune », signed by a host of 25 astronauts and scientists NASA experts, included Wernher von Braun, Bill Anders - one of the first astronauts to orbit the moon on the Apollo VIII mission in 1968 -, and Tom Stafford, commander of Apollo V - has been sold for £1,600 at the recent Bloomsbury sale in London. Taipei, May 3 (CNA) An annual sand sculpture festival on Taiwan's northeastern coast opened Saturday to kick off what organizers say represents an incredible journey. Thirty sculptors from Taiwan and 16 other countries have been working since April 19 on their creations. The more than 80 sand sculpture draw their inspiration from Chinese mariner Zheng He's explorations, the 12 signs of the zodiac, and Jules Verne's "Around the World in Eighty Days".
