court: Mass surveillance program exposed by Snowden was illegal - Reuters | Occupy Your Voice! Mulit-Media News and Net Neutrality Too | Scoop.it
Seven years after former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden blew the whistle on the mass surveillance of Americans' telephone records, an appeals court has found the program was unlawful - and that the U.S. intelligence leaders who publicly defended it were not telling the truth.
Monica S Mcfeeterss insight:
Soon After Arron Swartz’s suicide as a result of DOJ threatening him with serious felonies unless he made a deal with them ( likely to help entrap other hackers for good as well as the bad guys) Anonymous announced that they had secured a mother-load of what seen to be sensitive data. Within a year or so Snowden released critical information to the public. I’ve often wondered if that was the mother-load of data they referred to.

CNN’s Van Jones Secretly Helped Craft the Weak Trump Police Reform He Praised on TV

CNN’s Van Jones Secretly Helped Craft the Weak Trump Police Reform He Praised on TV | Occupy Your Voice! Mulit-Media News and Net Neutrality Too | Scoop.it
The ex-Obama aide’s willingness to help Trump—whom he once dubbed among the “worst people ever born”—has drawn the ire of liberal allies while gaining him fans in Jared and Kimye.
Monica S Mcfeeterss insight:
This is a sad attempt to marginalized Van’s life time career for social justice. I didn’t want Van to take the CNN gig feeling it was offered to gag him as an activist and shut him down. Van is also a strong media reform guy so the gig at CNN might leave him gagged on that front for awhile. One of the few things I’m willing to give Trump any credit for is this small step and a few others he did with bipartisan cooperation. Consulting Van, a man who had openly condemned him is shocking alone. Signing any step forward on justice reform was & is a step forward. Both men saw an opportunity. One to save face and show leadership & the other to move a lifelong cause forward. This article to me is yet another effort to shut down a powerful activist player that too many only hear about from people that attack him so people will hate & fear him rather than listen. I never viewed what Trump signed as a finish line. CNN did credit Van softly Como tried to give Van some credit & Van did publicly on CNN credit Trump for signing. Van can offend you but he’s usually doing it for purpose and with just cause. I think his strongest point that makes him a great leader is that the groups he co-starts up are so strong after he moves on that they will even stand up and get in his face if they disagree with him & he can take it too!

The 10 Most (Potentially) Inspiring Cases of Hacktivism Jump to>> the rise of hacktivism [infographic] Hacktivism is always a touchy subject. On the one hand, there's very little built-in accountability for vigilante hacking efforts. On the other, cyber attacks can be one of the most effective forms of pushing activist ideals. While we aren't advocating breaking the law just because you have the tech know-how, many amazing activist feats have occurred entirely in cyber space. From overthrowing governments to fighting Scientologist quacks, check out our ten favorite and (potentially) inspiring cases of hacktivism below! 10) Worms Against Nuclear Killers (WANK) There were earlier cases of hacktivism-like acts before the WANK Worm appeared -- for instance, in 1971, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak developed a phone hack that allowed people to receive free long distance calls —- but this 1989 hack was among the first to provide a clear political bent, an attribute that . . .
