The intranet has been relaunched based on employee feedback. Good!
Of course, information cleanup and search improvement were needed. It is available for many devices as it is primarly targeted at field workers. That is of course not unexpected for an organization that works for refugees, but it is good that it is mentioned as field workers are often "forgotten".

Another very nice example of a customer-oriented use of Yammer, where a question from a customer is being answered on Yammer.
Leister is a global manufacturer of equipment for plastic welding. I think this video has been created by the Swiss head office, looking at the scenery and the German language settings. It is a bit long but a good example of the benefits of Yammer.
This is an introduction to the SharePoint 2007/2010 intranet of the Swiss Red Cross. It is mainly used for document management. They also have FAST Search which can search various platfoms, which is a real benefit for employees.
Intro video for OneIntranet, from building materials distributor CHR Swiss Distribution. With many shots from the workfloor, beautiful camerawork and intriguing music, at first it looks like a promo film for the company. The intranet looks very colorful and nice, but few details are visible. I think the intranet is called ONE, because they are a multi-brand company. Uploaded January 2014
Nice animation for the intranet of this Switzerland-based global inspection, verification, testing and certification company. Connect with colleagues, share ideas, find insights, become more agile....all the things you would expect to be able to do on an intranet. I see some Yammer, so assume they are on Office365.
Being a food technologist, I quite like this "recipe for a new intranet" for an online education provider in the hospitality and culinary business. I am not sure if "Policies" are a tasty ingrediënt, though :-).
Together with our new friends of 100% Halal, we created this fun film to explain ABB's philosophy and their new way of internal communication.
Ellen van Aken's insight:
Thanks to Noah Sparks and Martin Risgaard, who made me aware of this video. And of the fact that it is about Yammer, because the name Yammer is not mentioned in the video, nor the interface shown.
I like that they make the connection between new "business" technologies that are a core business of ABB, and new "communication" technologies. In other words, for a company like ABB it is natural to always challenge existing technologies and replace them by new where it makes sense.
On the other hand, I would have liked to see more explanation of the benefits of the new communication tools, because it is left quite conceptual. I realize this fits better with the symmetry of the video, but I have seen that many people need some more help as to how to use it. Perhaps the ABB employees do not need more intro, or another video will follow :-).
Mit der Konzeption und Realisierung des neuen Intranets hat Namics eine effiziente und auf die Kundenbetreuung optimierte Informationsplattform für die Luzer...
Ellen van Aken's insight:
OK, this is more of a project video, and it is very much a showcase for the agency, but it was nice to have another entry from Switzerland, it is SharePoint, you have some screenshots AND they have won the Nielsen-Norman Best Intranet Award in 2013, so I thought 'd publish it.
It describes the project, the starting pojnt and benefits. Various people and roles talk about their part and about what they think of it.
Kurzer Überblick über die Funktionen und die Handhabung der einzelnen Module.
Ellen van Aken's insight:
Extremely functional intranet, extremely consistent in look and feel, and extremely boring in design and presentation. It is 4 minutes but it seems to go on forever. All is in German. Swistec creates solutions for ripple-control.
