Several people at this multinational dairy company talk about the new way of working they would like to promote with the new SharePoint-based intranet.
A few screenshots pass, showing a colourful clean design.
Yammer introduction of a Spanish telecom company. Nice explanation with good animations of the benefits of Yammer, and which common business problems this solves.
Bonjour espion, soit attentif, ce message s'auto détruira. Campus Isefac Bachelor INTRANET
Ellen van Aken's insight:
Normally I am not a fan of Powtoon, but this is a nice one. It is a secret message to students of the same French college for management, marketing and communication as in the other video, about the new intranet which contains things you can expect for a school: courses, time schedules, rooms, documents etc. Nice "spy" theme throughout. Watch quickly, before the message auto-destructs! Uploaded December 2015.
"Easier to find info with drop-down menu's" is not exactly the first recommendation I would share for my new intranet, but it may be a major change for this intranet. I also like the "more powerful search" - while the search word is shown, the search results are not. Nitpicking aside, upbeat teaser for the relaunch of this intranet for a UK Health Care and Housing organisation. Document previews, favourites, sharing and liking news, quick links to important applications, news and events...check! Uploaded November 2015.
A short tour around our new intranet which is helping SNH to improve collaboration and communication amongst colleagues.
Ellen van Aken's insight:
Thank you, Martin Stubbs-Partridge for sharing this demo, and thank you. Catherine Grenfell, for bringing this to my attention. Extensive demo which will help new employees to find their way around the intranet for the years to come. It is a silent demo, which has its advantages. The intranet has a pleasant look and feel to it. There are several options to interact with others, but there is no reference to mobile devices. Scottish Natural Heritage is an organization that looks after all aspects of nature in Scotland. Uploaded September 2015.
Effective demo of some functionalities of the intranet of Fairfield County, Ohio, USA. The intranet looks rather minimalistic, with no design to speak of and not a lot of content. However, I like the GEM-option: an easy way to praise someone for Going the Extra Mile.
"Life" is the name of the new intranet of France-based supermarket chain Carrefour. This demo is targeted at employees in Italy. The intranet has a nice clean design and uses Yammer for social. It is accessible on all devices.
You might think this is a movie trailer, with the bombastic music and the "coming to a screen near you" but it is the teaser for the intranet of RNDC, a distributor of alcoholic beverages in the USA.
This teaser contains a couple of nice phrases, such as "delivered at the speed of business".
The launch was in September 2013, but the video has been uploaded December 2015.
This is intranet 4.0, according to the people at Asfinag, the responsible party for motorways and expressways in Austria.
Another example of an improved intranet with better search, a new design and more user-friendliness, created after asking feedback from employees.
The design looks nice and clean, with an app store like Office365 (but icons are different) and options to comment and give feedback. It is not a top-down communication tool.
I am a little surprised by higher management asking employees to use the intranet in 2015; I would imagine that any intranet is an essential part of doing business by now.
This quick video was put together to be broadcast on closed circuit televisions across North America at corporate locations. It was also shared on the employ...
Ellen van Aken's insight:
Silent, clean, simple tutorial for the intranet of B. Braun, a supplier of medical products and knowledge, with headquarters in the UK.
I like the simplicity of the 6 circles that explain all you need to know. Whether that is sufficient instruction, I do not know, but it looks fairly straightforward. I do not see a social element, which surprises me for a knowledge-intensive company like this.
Nice teaser for RBI People, the new intranet for publisher Reed Business Information. It is based on Office365. Now I do not know if employees will be impressed by "everything stored in the cloud", but "better search" will certainly resonate.
Look at the office setting in the beginning, where the boss says"I want everyone to collaborate better" and at the end. Apparently sitting at a coffee table wearing a headset makes the boss happy :-)
Haaga-Helian Intranet uudistettiin 2015. Lanseerauksessa hyödynnetttin useita viestintäkeinoja, yhtenä oli tämä video.
Ellen van Aken's insight:
Apparently the relaunch of this intranet fits in a chain of world events :-).
Nice and clear animations (although I do not like the hand) show that this intranet for a high school in Helsinki has document management, communications, tools, allows interactions with colleagues and fellow students, and is available on mobile devices.
Teaser for the intranet of an professional organization of Energy Engineers. It is therefore no surprise that the focus is on meeting peers, sharing knowledge (and apparently you can win credits if you do) and enrolling in webinars and other learning events.
Minion-inspired Powtoon video for the intranet of a French college for Management, Marketing and Communication. Accessible for smartphone, tablet and PC/Mac it is a collaboration and information tool for students and employees. Uploaded December 2015.
Probably just a test but...kittens! How annoying if you can not find anything, but Reach4It will change that! I assume that is the name of the intranet for marketing and advertising company ReachLocal. Uploaded June 2015.
Hmmm...combining Powtoon with screenshots is a bit messy. This is a demo for the Cultural Institure of Peru and North America, if I have understood it correctly. This is an educational organization. Uploaded October 2015.
I like the image of the Russian Matrushka Dolls depicting the transition from many intranets into one, for at least 20.000 employees (in Marketing & Sales alone). Of course this intranet is personalized to your profile, has a social component, and is very time-saving. I wish I knew which company this is, but I have been unable to find out. Uploaded April 2015.
Another video that does not like being embedded - never mind, just click "Watch on Vimeo".
The video starts with two employees brainstorming about the benefits of being able to collaborate faster and better without email - it would free up time to their real work. They end up with the name Compass, which of course is an excellent name for the intranet of a travel agency.
A short demo follows. I quite like the easy videochat options.
Uploaded December 2015.
They have another interesting "user story" of the social intranet here: http://sco.lt/8mzbkH
Great demo of the intranet of the city of Burwood in Australia. It has a nice but simple setup and can be re-used for a long time.
After a short introduction by a person, several people demo a part of the intranet in turn. The different voices keep it lively and interesting.
The intranet has all the usual trimmings, including a chatterbox and commenting on news, policies, IT ticketing system etc. Apparently there is also a separate document management system, because the intranet is not supposed to be a dumping ground for documents. Well said!
This is something different than a homepage with people, products and news. Here we see dashboards and data being crunched. It is more a regular demo than a launch video, but I wanted to include it because I like intranets that contain this type of information.
S&S Steel Services produces special steel products and is based in Indiana, USA.
This animated explainer gave QUU staff a sneak peek into the features of their new intranet in the lead up to the intranet launch.
Ellen van Aken's insight:
Another "simplification" intranet revamp: streamlining content, improving search, reclustering information and other improvements after talking to staff about their usage and needs. The results look very promising.
There are quite a number of navigation buttons but I expect these will be clear because they are in different sections. The intranet is mainly aimed at providing content, for which 16 editors are responsible.
The "social" part is provided by Yammer, which appears to be separate.
The intranet is called "Tap" which is a great name for QUU, Queensland Urban Utilities, which is a provider of water to a region in Queensland, Australia.
The VELUX Group has launched a new Digital Workplace based on a global intranet with built-in Yammer, translation functions and targeted content. A cool cat ...
Ellen van Aken's insight:
This video was shown at a conference and, judging from the comments on Twitter, universally liked. Thank you, Majbritt Murmann for sharing it with the world! It is a humorous explanation of the benefits of the new (Office365-based) Digital Workplace of Danish company Velux. They specialize in high-tech windows for slanted roofs.
The video focuses on the ease of global collaboration, finding colleages and information and access from everywhere on multiple devices.
The tone of voice (over-the-top) and the storyboard are remarkably like the one from the Home Retail Group's Digital Workplace, even the Awesomosaurus (revamped into Hipawesomosaurus) and the 1% of employees who will access from the bath are back, so I guess this has been created by the same agency. Look for yourself: https://vimeo.com/102909530
