Parent Empowerment concepts are growing, with this "micro-school' movement that draws from traditional schooling concepts that many feel were lost in the school consolidation movement that started in the 1950s.    The argument at that time was consolidation was undermining the community school with strong parent involvement to the advantage increased revenue with larger (eventually huge) schools and school sytems.  -Lon

This sounds like professionals are emphasizing emotional growth over academics.  I have mixed feelings - academics are the main reason for having schools, and emotional growth should be a supportive role.  But it sounds like some professionals are turning that around, that schools should become mostly emotional health.  I doubt is that is healthy, otherwise schools might become nurturing places rather than academics. -Lon
