I am sure that Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences has changed some practices, but I don't think it has taken root across the board.

Students (future adults) need to learn what is and how to critical thinking from their own discoveries. SO that they will earn the freedom of critical thinking in their own time, from their own realities... I like this paper, the subject is an endless work in progress for a better social collective and individual well being!

This article points out how critical and creative thinking applies to the real world and 21st century jobs. It highlights on the importance of possessing and developing both skills to ehance one's self-esteem. A fantastic read and could even be used as a resource when introducing critical and creative thinking skills, and the difference between the two. |

This is a great visual representation of the power and learning opportunities of mistakes. The parent population needs to realize that greater and deeper understanding comes from making and correcting mistakes than memorizing merely to get the reward of a grade.

Humility makes sense. Socrates knew that he was ignorant, and therefor was ready to learn. If I think that I already know a thing, or do not need to know a thing, then my mind is closed to it. All learning starts from a point of ignorance, and then move to greater approximations of understanding until mastery.

Absolutely! Most are unable to do so, unwilling to learn .. Being ignorant is fine, but lack of humility won't ever help

My teaching experience suggests the more creative a teacher is the less likely they are to be accepted. Creativity is hard work and those around us do not like to be shown up. I also found that the words innovative and creative were often used to support introducing the new fad or catch phrase. Usually, it was just a way of trying to sell something that was unpalatable that had been around for some time and should have been gotten rid of.

Critical thinking as a skill is the mother of all other skills and one that underpins and solidify students overall learning. This photo would be ideal to hang on the wall near your working space to remind you of easy ways to include critical thinking into the classroom and how certain questions topics make people think in different ways and with different parts of the brain. For Examples: Open minded, Problem Solving, Collaboration, Real world applications, Analyse, Evaluate and Reason, Reflection and Communiaction |
