A newly published report has valued the global electronic music industry at $12.9bn (£9.6bn/€11.3bn), naming festivals and clubs as the most significant source of revenue. The IMS Business Report 2025 found that the industry’s value was up by 6% year-on-year in 2024. The report was created by MIDiA Research’s Mark Mulligan and was commissioned by the IMS Ibiza industry conference.
Live events revenue totalled $27bn for the likes of Live Nation, Eventim, HYBE, SM, JYP and Avex, according to the report. This is an increase on the $25.8bn posted in 2023. The report added that 2024 was particularly boosted by pre-sales for 2025 tours, though higher ticket prices were the main driver of growth rather than volume of tickets sold.

Last night (Saturday, April 19), Kendrick Lamar and SZA played the first show of their joint Grand National Tour at Minneapolis’ U.S. Bank Stadium. Over the span of a mammoth, 52-song setlist, the musicians and TDE labelmates traded the stage back and forth and debuted tracks from their newest releases—2024’s GNX and SOS Deluxe: Lana. Lamar began his first set rapping “Wacced Out Murals” from behind the wheel of his now-signature black Buick, while SZA’s performances featured an insectoid flair throughout, including a video of a female praying mantis devouring her mate that played while she sang “Kill Bill.” The two duetted on “30 for 30,” “Doves in the Wind,” “All the Stars,” “Love.,” “Gloria,” and their No. 1 hit single “Luther.” Check out the full setlist, plus photos and footage of the show, stage, and merchandise, below.
