Virginia-licensed psychologists renew their licenses annually, on June 30th.

14 hours of continuing education are required (annually) to renew.

6 hours must be earned in face-to-face or real-time interactive educational experiences
A minimum of 1.5 hours shall be in ethics, standards of practice or laws governing the profession of psychology in Virginia
Courses offered by APA-approved providers are accepted.

Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) continuing education have had some variations over the past several years in California. Before a California MFT can apply for their license renewal they must obtain the required CE credits, as set forth by the State of California BBS. There may be a courtesy reminder sent out a few months prior to license expiration by the BBS. The certificates of completion must be maintained by the licensed MFT for a period of two years.
