This presentation focuses on the twin purposes of Guided Inquiry as a means by which open-ended student inquiry can be carried out and scaffolded, as well as providing means by which evidence of student learning can be gathered during the inquiry.

Best practice...guided inquiry. Great follow up to both Ross Todd's sessions and those I attended at the ASLA conference.

This inquiry looked at the changes in the role of both libraries and teacher librarians over recent years. It argues that the main catalyst of this change has been the adoption of Kuhlthau's Guided Inquiry by schools. The point which resonated most with me was the importance for the teacher librarian to build partnerships and networks. As stated by Ross Todd the focus should be "connections nit just collections".

This article by Carol Kuhlthau looks at the importance of the partnership between school librarians and teachers in supporting students to learn in an increasingly complex information environment. It discusses what it takes to transform a school into a 21st century learning space and the role the librarian plays in this. Especially valuable for me was the explanation of the collaborative teams needed for successful inquiry and the role of the librarian within these teams. |
"Guided Inquiry" - Desenvolvido por Ross J. Todd e Carol Kuhlau
A really fascinating way to exhibit guided inquiry. The utilising of Web2 tools is certainly something to strive for.
