What will War in Space look like in the Future

One day humanity will take to the stars, and just like it did in the sea and the air, it will bring its weapons with it. Though we can hope that the rise of mankind from the cradle of its infancy to the heavens above will be accompanied by a similar

Calling all wannabe astronauts: You can now explore outer space with NASA from the comfort of your own desk chair.

NASA has launched a new library of audio, video, and images of space exploration -- a database with more than 140,000 files from over 60 collections.

The best part? A search engine that lets you flit from celestial wonders to astronaut selfies.

Worried 140,000 isn't enough? It'll will keep getting better.
"It's a living website," NASA said. "New and archival images, video and audio files continually will be added."

Color as 3-dimensional architectural elements: An art installation by Emmanuelle Moreaux

Color as 3-dimensional architectural elements: An art installation by Emmanuelle Moreaux | Communication design | Scoop.it

Inspired by the Japanese traditional sliding screens, French architect Emmanuelle Moreaux has created the concept of Shikiri, which literally means ‘dividing space with colours’.

Created using traditional Japanese paper, Moreaux’s installation '100 Colours' for Shinjuku Creators Festa 2013 modulates a designed space with candy colours. Her intelligent utilization of colours as three dimensional elements to create actual spaces rather than just finishing touches on surfaces is commendable.

Forum organisers used Boris to enliven the event, having him dance to a pop song, but a crew for Russian state television apparently thought Boris was real, and used footage of him dancing and speaking as an example of Russian technological prowess.

BBC has released another great interactive infographic which allows you to travel through space and learn just how big it is. You begin your trip with blasting off earth and at 6.1 km you will pass the start of the high cloud layer....continue through the stratosphere to the mesosphere to the thermosphere and beyond. After a very long journey you will reach the edges of our solar system, where you will be told "It would take you about 23 million years of continuous scrolling on this scale to get to the farthest regions of the observable universe..."

The distance of our solar system is vast, and this interactive may help our learners begin to understand just how vast it is.

Infographic: Mining Pinterest To Discover Our Color Preferences, By Room | Communication design | Scoop.it

Colour and Space is a project by designers Mie Frey Damgaard and Peter Ørntoft for decorative paint brand Jotun. It digs through Turkish Pinterest boards, analyzing two fairly basic but powerful categories: color and location. The results are placed into simple pie charts, showing preferred colors in places around the home like kids’ rooms (the faintest pink), living rooms (maize), and kitchens (white).

Colour and Space leverages big data to boil all that design into the simplest of actionable metrics--what color should my living room be? Because what you’re responding to in some random interior design photo may be the unique furnishings, but it’s just as often the color--that striking palette that’s all of a trip to Lowe’s away from reality.
