Sovereign wealth funds are a key component of the global financial system, but they also have their own challenges. For example, they have to manage their risk exposure in global markets and are often reliant on short-term liquidity to meet investment deadlines. They can also be exposed to conflict situations and wars. They have to follow ethical guidelines that ban investments in companies that directly or indirectly contribute to killing, torture and deprivation of human rights.
