PVC Strawberry Planter

PVC Strawberry Planter | Gardening |

What are the advantages of this system? The most obvious is the ability to grow many plants in a small space. It’s an interesting way to maximize the production of a small garden, or to grow strawberries on a deck or balcony.

But there are other advantages. Since the plants are off the ground, you’ll be able to grow very clean, very high-quality berries. Disease problems can be minimized with the off-the-ground approach, particularly in a greenhouse where constant airflow is provided.

Giant snails attack Florida

Giant snails attack Florida | Gardening |

There have been 117,000 of these snails picked up in Miami-Dade County since they first noticed the infestation in September 2011.

Denise Feiber, a spokeswoman for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services told Reuters that it is important to get these massive guys under control as soon as possible. The snails are not just a problem for the area's vegetation, but they are for the areas human population as well. "These little buggers carry a parasitic lungworm that can cause meningitis in people."
