Working with the Fuji X-Pro “Monochrome”

Working with the Fuji X-Pro “Monochrome” | Fujifilm X Series APS C sensor camera | Scoop.it

Somehow, in a world where smartphone photos of dubious quality are uploaded minutes after an event ends, my black and white photos have become a welcome addition to the record of government activity.

While I might be shooting an event with a DSLR, often with flash, I also carry my XP1 “Monochrome” with the 35mm or 18mm lens attached. This allows me to capture shots with available light and to work unobtrusively in crowds. Shooting wide open (or close to it) and at high ISO, the XP1 M produces fabulous monochrome images.

A non-review review of the Viltrox 85mm 1.8 lens (on Fuji X-T2) | Fujifilm X Series APS C sensor camera | Scoop.it
In my film days, I worked with 5×4 for product and architectural shots, 120 for fashion, portraits and landscape, 35 mm for everything else. I mainly used Nikon and Leica starting with third party lenses updating to Nikon and Leica lenses as my photographs earned me more money. I always …

The Laowa 65mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO Review –

The Laowa 65mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO Review – | Fujifilm X Series APS C sensor camera | Scoop.it

Today Laowa released their newest offering for mirrorless camera systems. The Laowa 65mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO. I was so fortunate to be sent a copy late November 2019 to test out a bit and give my thoughts on.
Now, I’m NOT a macro photographer. I don’t do that kind of photography much. I don’t have the fancy ring lights, I don’t have fancy turn-around-lenses-and-mount-them rigs. I don’t particularly like spisers or bugs, so really Laowa was wise in sending this lens to some good Chinese macro photographers for testing as well.

I have recently been in Maine for the second time and went shooting at sunrise in Portland. I tried a film simulation I made for the Fujifilm X-T2 to emulate and I'm quite happy with the results.

Taking Pictures While Stuck on the Bus in Hong Kong

Taking Pictures While Stuck on the Bus in Hong Kong | Fujifilm X Series APS C sensor camera | Scoop.it
One of the things I love about Hong Kong is public transit. There's multiple ways to get from point A to B, it's efficient, economical and convenient. I think people who choose to drive here are crazy. Other than taking in the sights and sounds (and smells) of this great city while traversing through it's varied and often maze-like thoroughfares, taking public transit can buy you a lot of time. If you drive, you can't catch up on email or reorganize your camera bag. Your focus is on driving. As a passenger on public transit, you can choose to do whatever you want to do to pass the time. For someone who is busy, this is a great luxury. The title of this article was meant to be tongue-in-cheek as I enjoy spending most of my time taking pictures while on public transit. I don't ever feel 'stuck' while on the bus. It's a unique way of photographing a city, especially if you get on a double decker. Let me take you through my process of capturing street style photography from inside the Hong Kong public transit system. Let's start with equipment choice. It's practical to use a zoom lens

Fujifilm X-T1 (X-Trans II) Ektachrome 100SW Film Simulation Recipe

A couple of weeks ago when I was discussing the possibility of Fujifilm creating a black-and-white only camera, something that I came to learn by accident is that the Monochrome film simulation is pretty darn good. Laowa 65mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO - Review / Test Report | Fujifilm X Series APS C sensor camera | Scoop.it

A while ago, we reviewed the Laowa 100mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO and we were pretty impressed. Now, that's a full format lens optimized for DSLRs but there's a new kid around now - the Laowa 65mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO for APS-C format mirrorless cameras (Fujifilm, Sony, Canon EF-M). Being shorter in focal length and covering a smaller image circle, it is obviously a much more compact and light-weight lens.
