YA Stands: Pub Life: Ten Marketing Tips To Build Your Author Brand (Part One)

I'm a little over four months away from my book release and it's a crazy and exciting time! I'm working on edits, writing book 2, and prepping for my release.  It's crunch time! I've been studying a lot and trying to gather as many marketing tips as I can.  Some of these tips (in no particular order) are ones that you can start on before you even start querying, others you'll want to do closer to your release date.  But whether you are a new writer, querying, or newly sold, these are helpful marketing tips to prepare you build your author brand.  I'll post Part Two on October 2nd.

One of the neat things about this conference is that they had a large bookstore for local indie booksellers, Canadian publishers, and indie authors. Anyone who presents workshops or sits on panels at the conference is invited to have their book available, so of course I took advantage of this.

Cover designers know what they′re doing these days. I see a lot of attractive covers. Covers which prompt me to go to the next step: reading the cover copy. There the results are more mixed. Lots of ick! More of huh? Or huh. Very few oh, interesting! Only my interesting!responses send me inside the front cover to the first page. By then, depending on how the whole progression felt, I′m thinking either m-a-y-b-e or this is good!
