Sheriff: Soccer star Rooney charged with public intoxication | EntertainmentNuz | Scoop.it
LOUDON COUNTY, Va. (AP) — Soccer star Wayne Rooney was arrested last month at a Washington-area airport on a charge of public intoxication, authorities said Sunday. The Loudon County Sheriff's Office in Virginia said Rooney was jailed Dec. 16 after his arrest on the misdemeanor charge by police at the Dulles International Airport in Virginia and then released on his own recognizance. The sheriff's office released a mugshot from his booking that showed Rooney in what appeared to be an orange jail jumpsuit. Court documents say Rooney was charged with public swearing and intoxication. He paid a $25 fine Friday.

It’s no surprise Thomas Markle and his daughter Meghan are now estranged | Life and style | The Guardian

It’s no surprise Thomas Markle and his daughter Meghan are now estranged | Life and style | The Guardian | EntertainmentNuz | Scoop.it
On top of her father refusing to accept his daughter’s limits, Piers Morgan, the James Boswell to Thomas’s Samuel Johnson, has similarly been raging this month about Meghan “sacking [him] like a sack of potatoes”. In this case, Meghan’s crime was not becoming Morgan’s BFF after their one drink, once, in a pub several years ago. Tellingly, perhaps, Morgan had a somewhat different take on his and Meghan’s relationship exactly a year ago, when he wrote about “my beautiful friendship with the amazing Meghan Markle”. True, he acknowledged, he hadn’t seen her in a while, but, he concluded at the time: “All will be forgiven if I get an invite to the wedding.” Guess it was lost in the post.

Nearly 10% of American adults believe chocolate milk come from brown cows, finds study | EntertainmentNuz | Scoop.it
Chocolate milk is, by all accounts, delicious.  It’s also an incredibly simple concoction: just milk, made chocolatey. As the name would suggest. And yet, it turns out many people do not understand how chocolate milk is made: some genuinely believe chocolate milk is milk from brown cows. Whether those brown cows are also thought to produce cocoa and sugar is not clear.

How Christmas evolved from raucous carnival to domestic holiday - The Economist explains

How Christmas evolved from raucous carnival to domestic holiday - The Economist explains | EntertainmentNuz | Scoop.it
In early modern Europe, between about 1500 and 1800, the Christmas season meant a lull in agricultural labour and a chance to indulge. The harvest had been gathered and the animals slaughtered (the cold weather meant they would not spoil). The celebration involved heavy eating, drinking and wassailing, in which peasants would arrive at the houses of the neighbouring gentry and demand to be fed.

Why Beer Is the World’s Most Popular Drink

Why Beer Is the World’s Most Popular Drink | EntertainmentNuz | Scoop.it

Having a regular watering hole helps improve social skills, which increases overall life satisfaction. According to the study, people who patronized a local or -community-type pub or bar had a wider support system of close friends, which also meant that they were more trusting of others and more engaged with the community than those who did not support a local bar (non-drinking patrons can find community in social spaces such as a place of worship or a gym). Friendship and community are major factors in health and well-being, as many studies have shown direct correlations between strong social ties and better health.
