The residents of the metropolis of Montpellier have been able to travel free of charge every weekend on board buses and trams throughout the metropolitan area since 5 September 2020. The offer applies the residents only. All who live in one of the 31 municipalities of the Montpellier metropolis can apply for the free weekend pass, which is available from the public transport mobile application (M'Ticket TaM) and on the public transport card (TaM card).

Une étude de Beobank sur les alternatives en matière de mobilité vient de sortir et confirme que la première mesure à prendre pour que les gens utilisent moins la voiture est la gratuité des transports en commun. Depuis longtemps, le PTB plaide pour cette mesure qui est à la fois « sociale et écologique ». Le parti de gauche avance ses plans de financement et critique également les différents gouvernements qui augmentent les tarifs et mènent des politiques de mobilité tant antisociales qu’anti-écologiques.

Residents of the German city of Stuttgart were able to enjoy free public transportation last Saturday. The action will take place 3 more times until the end of this year.

Mayor of Stuttgart Frank Nopper stated on social media: ‘’I would like to cordially invite the people of Stuttgart to take advantage of the offer and visit the city center without any parking stress or thoughts about high fuel prices.’’

The four dates have been selected after negotiations with the City Initiative Stuttgart when the matter was raised during the deliberations for the double budget 2022/2023, the city of Stuttgart announced on their website.
