Pandemic has teens feeling worried, unmotivated and disconnected from school | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

As a researcher who studies adolescent development, I was interested in whether and how teens’ school stress changed as the pandemic dragged on. So during the fall of 2020, my colleague and I surveyed adolescents about their academic concerns and the changes they noticed in school social dynamics.

Our study, published in School Psychology, revealed that some school challenges increased, while others stayed about the same.

Why a Learning Ecosystem is required to drive business results than just a LMS

Why a Learning Ecosystem is required to drive business results than just a LMS | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

Learning and Development function has been going through a transformation over the last decade or so with the continuous advent of newer tools, technologies and innovation in training delivery. As businesses go through transformations and disruptions continuously, L&D has to adapt to align to business needs to equip learners for the change by using the right content, process, tools and technologies.

Edumorfosis's insight:

Preliminary data released by the federal government today reaffirmed that colleges and universities lost hundreds of thousands of students last year as the COVID-19 pandemic wreaked havoc on fall 2020 enrollments, particularly at community colleges. The new data, which also break down enrollment by state, shed light on some of the other ramifications of the pandemic, including changes in student retention rates, number of employees and institutional revenue.

UX Research: A cornerstone of design

UX Research: A cornerstone of design | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

The Design-Thinking Process is an all-encompassing journey, which UX designers and their clients undertake when designing and constructing or revamping a digital product or service. However, because the value of the overall UX design process is greater than the sum of its parts, our clients and others beyond the sphere of design often understate the importance of those individual components. Therefore, conveying the importance of the various aspects of the UX design process to a client can be an uphill task—in addition to communicating the value of the design-thinking process itself, which presents its own unique challenges.

Using EdTech to bring edutainment in the classroom

Using EdTech to bring edutainment in the classroom | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

We all know from our personal experience that learning while having fun is more effective. Granted, the notion of “fun” may differ a lot from one individual to the other, but still, it is important to consider that spicing up education with a little bit of fun – that is, including entertainment into the educational process – may improve students’ engagement and their learning outcomes.

Obviously, we can debate about the extent to which entertainment should be added to education, as the two should not be considered equally important. Education is also about discipline, work, and the desire to go beyond your limits. But when we add a little bit of entertainment to this mix, the results can turn out to be quite surprising.

Marco A. Benito Barreto's curator insight, September 18, 12:42 PM

| Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

One mistake many e-learning experts make is that they talk about “eLearning” as if it’s a single thing and always focused on performance improvement. They talk about engagement and interactivity and measurable objectives. Those are all good things and super important for many courses. However, anything not linked to performance is then considered ineffective.

Four practical ways to blend

Four practical ways to blend | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

When it comes to blended learning, it is essential first to have an underlying understanding as to why this pedagogical strategy is valuable in the classroom. Let’s take a step back before diving into the nuts and bolts. Over the years, I have written a great deal about personalization, which is basically a shift from “what” to “who” as a means for students to demonstrate more ownership over their learning. What is taught or on the test has little value if the diverse needs of learners aren’t addressed. The same could be said if all kids are learning the same thing at the same time in the same way.

Agile Instructional Design: What you need to know

Agile Instructional Design: What you need to know | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

As an instructor, it's up to you to ensure that learners have the right course materials to supplement your lessons. In the past, you've probably selected course materials (such as textbooks) and at the end of the process, you received a static resource for your students to use for the coming year and, likely, many years to follow. In the case of textbooks, they were likely expensive, rarely updated, and far from the best resource for your learners.
