La Universidad 4.0

La Universidad 4.0 | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

The problem with cheating isn’t your learners, It’s YOU

The problem with cheating isn’t your learners, It’s YOU | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

As a graduate-level instructor, it is important to me that my learners feel adequately prepared to tackle assignments and leave my course feeling more prepared to step into the workforce as educated professionals. It took many hours of reflection on my teaching and learning to conclude that what my learners needed was not more surveillance on assessments, but more authenticity and meaning from these assignments.

In a post-COVID learning environment, we have the opportunity to create meaningful learning experiences for learners. If you are out “to catch” learners cheating on your assessments then I advise you to re-think and modify what you do in the classroom, no matter what format or subject you are teaching.

Consider these things as you set up your course assessments for the fall:

Keeping kids engaged in Remote Learning

Keeping kids engaged in Remote Learning | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

With the pandemic not letting down in many places, schools are beginning to focus less on re-entry and more on starting the year with remote learning. Even in countries where COVID19 is under control, there is still a certain level of nervousness and anxiety that a second wave could perpetuate a shift to either a hybrid model or remote instruction. No matter the situation, lessons learned have to be acted upon in order to provide a valuable learning experience to all kids regardless of demographics. One of the most prominent obstacles encountered was getting and keeping kids engaged. A recent Chalkbeat article highlighted the results of some surveys that alluded to this issue:

Tips for setting up an at-home Learning Environment for young students

Tips for setting up an at-home Learning Environment for young students | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

Here we are, looking down the barrel of another stretch of at-home learning. We always knew that it was likely not “if” but “when” we’d be back here, but the fact that many districts are announcing remote learning from day one has caught us all by surprise. Worn down from an already long stretch of stay-at-home learning, it’s understandable for parents to feel overwhelmed or daunted by the prospect.

The good news? We’ve done it once, we know how to adjust this time around. The bad news? We know just how hard it can be to support your kids as they learn, especially for those who are also trying to work. Over and over again we’ve heard this frustration from parents, especially those with young children who may need support. So, as former special education teachers who worked with young students, we thought we’d put together a list of strategies that will support all learners as you set up an at-home learning environment for your students. Whether you already know your childcare center or school is remote, or you’re wanting to be ready if schools close again, we hope you find this helpful.

In an increasingly interconnected world, the traditional education model that categorizes knowledge into specialized fields and degrees is no longer suited to today’s multifaceted realities. The complex challenges of today call for a different, more holistic and cross-disciplinary way of thinking. As a broad, comprehensive and long-term approach, strategic foresight is well-suited to prepare students for future changes, challenges and opportunities.

AR and VR in eLearning – What’s cool and what’s not!

AR and VR in eLearning – What’s cool and what’s not! | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

Augmented Reality or AR is where digitally generated content is superimposed on the real world. The simplest way to experience AR is to download an AR app on your smartphone and try it. For more enhanced learning experiences, you will need special AR headsets (e.g. Google Glass).

Virtual Reality or VR in eLearning immerses learners in a completely virtual environment and requires learners to use a VR headset. Most VR headsets are connected to a gaming console (e.g. PlayStation VR) or computer (e.g. Oculus Rift). Google Cardboard which is a standalone VR device is one among the most popular.

One main difference between AR and VR in eLearning is that while AR uses digital elements to enhance real-world conditions, VR transports learners into a virtual environment that simulates the real world.

A 2021 definition of EdTech

A 2021 definition of EdTech | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

EdTech, or educational tech, is the utilization of apps and tech devices for the purpose of teaching and learning. EdTech can happen inside or outside of classrooms, at any time, and in any place. Most modern EdTech involves the use of a wireless internet connection and an electronic device such as a smartphone, tablet, or laptop, or desktop computer.

EdTech allows for one learner or five million to learn, anywhere on earth, and to take the same classes as each other. However, asynchronous learning is also a part of EdTech and allows learners to pace themselves while learning new information. EdTech includes most domains of the educational process. Its fundamental principles encompass the creation of collaborative learning environments in which peers help to coach, tutor, explain, and inspire one another.

Adapting the 5E Teaching Model to remote classrooms

Adapting the 5E Teaching Model to remote classrooms | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

A comprehensive teaching model helps educators identify strategies that motivate learners to discover new things, to explore a new field of knowledge (or continue exploring previous ones, but with more effective approaches), and at the same time, it provides a useful assessment system. It’s an ambitious endeavor, with the long-term objective of achieving better learning outcomes and identifying more efficient teaching methods.

Based on the findings of Atkin and Karplus and their learning cycle model for teaching science, the 5E teaching model describes a five-stage sequence program that can be adapted to a wide range of teaching contexts, from individual lessons to more comprehensive learning units.

What Is Hybrid Learning?

What Is Hybrid Learning? | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

What is hybrid learning? A good working definition is that hybrid learning is synchronous learning that teaches both in-person and online learners simultaneously. Therefore, it is part of blended learning but a specific example of how EdTech is used in lessons. However, there are a surprising number of competing definitions even from very reputable sources. In the end, it’s about finding a workable definition that makes teaching and learning more flexible in the future.

Ser docente (¿en tiempos de pandemia?)

Ser docente (¿en tiempos de pandemia?) | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

Se pronostica desastre educativo | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

Top EdTech trends for 2020

Top EdTech trends for 2020 | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

Are you ready to look ahead?

Schools will soon be reflecting on what’s been working this year and what’s not. They’ll also begin thinking about their budgets for next year. It’s not too soon to look at what 2020 will bring in edtech trends.

Instruction must take into consideration several factors. All students should have equitable access to the curriculum and materials. We must find ways to engage students at deep levels of learning. And finally, we must prepare them to become their personal best.

You can expect that digital learning will continue to be a mainstay in K-12 classrooms, especially in four areas: assistive technology, adaptive technology, simulated learning, and growth coaching.

No quiero que mis hijos vuelvan al Colegio | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it
