Technology can enhance student learning, but not when implemented in a vacuum. Technology alone will not accomplish the broader objectives needed to prepare students for today's world.

While I understand the real-time digital stream may create a safe harbor for students uncomfortable expressing themselves, it seems to me students are missing valuable lessons in real-life social skills.

We must face reality, social media is here to stay it has become a way of life to live functionally and we must accept that as a fact in education settings as well.

This article provides insight to technology and social media in the classroom. It mentions how it is important to embrace it but also shows that challenges that using it brings. For one many are always on it and it takes away in "in-person" aspect away.

There’s a good article posted to the Morehead State University school paper that highlights why the school opted to continue using Blackboard rather than making the switch to Moodle (which they were considering in a head to head matchup). You can read the full article here.
While Blackboard did come out on top and MSU will upgrade to Blackboard Learning 9.1 rather than changing over to Moodle, there are some good points about what really matters when it comes to a huge transition or LMS adoption, especially when there’s a legacy system in place. I’ve been through this process once already and can attest that the major drawbacks of switching to Moodle from Blackboard or another LMS really comes down to convenience, time and effort. Blackboard has a huge advantage of being the first to market with lots of schools on board already, which gives it that much more clout when it comes to consider a switch. Via evangelina chavez

I chose this resource because I found it interesting that the author mentions that we aren't doing enough as far as the integration of technology, and I in fact agree. I hope that this article will provide our educators with creative and effective ways that we can make technology more prevalent in our schools.

We are in a century where "inclusion" became a synonym of polemic. It is important to remember what inclusiveness is really about. E-learning is already enhancing inclusiveness, allowing people with disabilities to take advantage of new learning approaches that benefit them.

Ringkasan:
Dengan perkembangan zaman, para pekerja academia mau tidak mau harus bisa adjust dengan perubahan uang terjadi di dunia academia terutama dalam bidang riset dan juga mengajar. Berkembangnya dunia digital membuat akses terhadap karya ilmiah serta bahan ajar menjadi lebih terjangkau. Saat ini para pengajar dan pelaku riset juga memanfaatkan media sosial tersebut, termasuk juga Twitter. Twitter adalah suatu platform yang dapat digunakan untuk bertukar informasi dan berkomunikasi langsung dengan para pengikut. Tak jarang banyak konten akademik yang dibahas secara mendalam dan intens melalui Twitter ini.
Namun di samping kemudahan untuk mempublish artikel akademik , salah satu tantangan yaitu bagaimana bisa terus mempertahankan komunikasi dan engage dengan pengikut. Salah satu poin penting yang perlu diingat juga bahwa membuat konten akademik online tidak menjamin kan dibaca oleh orang lain. Maka dari itu perlu dilakukan proses “engagement” tersebut.

Kita tidak bisa menutup mata dengan berkembangnya media sosial di era saat ini. Di satu sisi media sosial memang sangat membantu terkait dengan akses, menjadikan karya tulis atau artikel dapat dengan mudah di bagikan kepada masyarakat umum. Namun disatu sisi memang yang sering terlupakan adalah mengenai hal “engagement”. Dengan adanya kemudahan tersebut, semua orang dapat membagikan karya tulis ataupun memulai suatu diskusi online. Namun, masing-masing individu harus pintar dalam membagikan dan juga tetap berinteraksi dengan pengikutnya.Tentunya tautan atau tulisan yang kita bagikan ingin dibaca juga oleh orang lain. Selain itu, kita juga harus pintar mencari feedback dari orang lain yang membaca. Mungkin tidak secara langsung dengan menanyakan “apakah ada feedback? Namun dengan adanya komunikasi dan engagement yang aktif, kita bisa banyak mendapatkan informasi dari pengikut kita.
