Meetings (BigBlueButton), our open-source web conferencing tool, now tracks your student's participation and polling results, when you record your meeting.

The BBB Statistics tracks number of times students chat, speak, use an emoji, raise their hand and answer poll questions. Plus the start and end time each student participated in the meeting is tracked, and each of the student poll answers are recorded and can be downloaded.

A university study comparing learning management systems has concluded that the latest crop of learning management systems evaluated have made "significant progress" since the assessments started in 2005.

Desire2Learn did the best, then Sakai/Moodle, and finally Blackboard ended up at the bottom..the article pointed out that Blackboard's latest version has improved accessibility..but most of the other LMS's have newer versions as well..

Check out Moodle, .LRN, eFront, Dokeos, Sakai, and ATutor. The author loves Moodle, but as a faculty trainer, I love Sakai. If you use Blackboard or something similar, Sakai works in a similar way, with emphasis on collaboration, but with many free tools and affordable vendors.
