An Macroecnomic aspect that this looks at is the calculation of GDP, as consumer spending in Switzerland is lower as the bordering countries offer goods at a lower price, and also with a return of the MWst. A government objective is to ensure consumer confidence and consumer spending within their own countries. This look at the implementation of a federal policy on store opening times (now adopted by the Swiss government) to get a higher profit margin and higher revenue within the nation.

Prices in Switzerland are generally higher than that of its bordering countries. People naturally want to spend as little as possible, therefore it is sensible that they would want to go to france or germany where prices are lower and there is a wider range of products. The government should take action and give subsidies to producers or implement price floors. The situation is negatively effecting Switzerland's GDP, as people are spending their money that they earned in Switzerland in other countries, which results in money going out of the circulation.
