Le tout nouveau bâtiment logistique de la flotte française a appareillé de Saint-Nazaire au petit matin du jeudi 15 juin et devrait retrouver samedi soir l'estuaire de la Loire. Cette nouvelle campagne de tests à la mer, qui se déroule au large de Belle-Ile, suit une première sortie réalisée du 9 au 12 avril dernier. Profitant du retour d’expérience du premier BRF, le Jacques Chevallier, livré en juillet 2023 à la Marine nationale et admis au service actif en novembre 2024, le Jacques Stosskopf ne doit ainsi réaliser que deux sorties d’essais au lieu de trois pour son aîné.

Parmi eux, le chef d’état-major de la Marine nationale, l’amiral Nicolas Vaujour, qui a commandé ce bâtiment il y a 20 ans, en 2004 et 2005. Il faisait partie des 18 anciens pachas présents à bord pour la sortie des anciens commandants, qui s’est déroulée le mardi 13 mai au large de Toulon. « Le Commandant Birot c’était la force d’un esprit d’équipage jeune et enthousiaste, un bateau unique, un sous-marin de surface comme on disait parfois, dur mais infatigable.
